One of my favorite providers of fresh music in 2011, a Canadian based label King Deluxe celebrates one year with the release of Year One compilation (in two parts). It includes a few highlights of quite a fruitful 12 months along with new interpretations by forward-thinking beatshmiths from across the globe including Fancy Mike, Ghost Mutt, Alphabets Heaven, I.D., Subp Yao, Option Command, Muta, Vaetxh, Acre and others. Stylistically this release offers diverse and wide-ranging beatz aesthetics with producers freely experimenting with sound, often quite successfully. This is not your typical easy-listening, ump ump sub sub UKG, Dubstep or Future Garage ting. Which is good, cause at the moment I'm really fed up with all this UK* scene. These tracks require some effort on the part of the listener, but trust me - you will be rewarded in the end :) If I am to name a few higlights I'd include: a fantastic Subp Yao's remix of equally great Aether by I.D., Zack Christ's angry, off-kilter refix of Aleph's Sulphozinum or Ghost Mutt's uplifting remix of Alphabets Heaven's Woman. Don't hesitate peeps, grab this nice package, you won't be disappointed.

Ha! A very, very nice Christmas gift from my personal Label of the Year. Saturate Records has just released the second V.A. compilation showcasing the works by talented producers from across the globe (though mainly from the Old Continent) under one common denominator - Super Quality Beatz in Abundance. If you are wondering what directions, paths or angles the nu beatz / twisted hip-hop / experimental dance music scene will follow next year, in Saturated! VOL 2 you'll find fine examples. Just listen to the tracks on this compilation and you'll catch the vibe. My personal highlights include, among others, mind-bending tunes by oneone, Subp Yao & Bios, Racoon X, Phokus & Grapes, Microburst or Kijk Een Ster. Never heard of them ?? Time to catch up with the names, 2012 will belong to them. Definitely, one of the best releases this year!!!! Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

P-Fang in his The Crypt EP offers Halloween experience like no other. I have been a fan of this mysterious producer hailing from SF since the first time I've heard his mixtape. I've been waiting for this release anxiously and I have not been disappointed a bit. This is the perfect music to enter the (apparantely) apocalyptic 2012. My personal highlights of this EP - Midnight, Devil and Graveyard2010 are full of totally unique, dark vibe which goes so well with my neurons and emotions. Hightly recommended by Doktor Krank! Grab this release on Beatport, Digital Tunes and at other digital retailers.

rbxep27 - +Verb - Fragments Ep by Robox Neotech

Then comes an old homie + Verb from US, the owner of supersexy lazer bass, in another winning Fragments EP for Robox Neotech. I've been his fan for years and as usual I'm totally impressed with the groovy, warm, bleepy heavens he creates on his machines doing his fantastic button work. Perfect music for home parties in any robot universe. The title track is a slowed-down, mutated robotic juke, a great tool for cerebral exercises in contemporary electronic music. The rest rides on a super solid hyper-bass and great synth improvisations with lots of action in the background plus great vocal samples. Impecabbly produced this is the music I hope hearing more and more in the future. Grab it exclusively on Beatport and elsewhere in a few weeks.

As a pre-Christmas gift Robox Neotech has recently released a nice package of 4 free downloads by the artists from their rooster. Ghetto Robots includes four juke ghetto-tech bombs by Damscray, Stagga, Doshy and + Verb. Smack a Blackbird boasts a fantastic melody line and Damscray becomes more and more The Juke Champion of 2011 in my ears :) It is a fu fu fuc fuck fu fuc fucking banger! I'd really like to smack a few heads with dat tjun! + Verb in Godzilla is again at the forefront of the music scene, applying his great skills quite successfully to a new Juke'ish territory. All his typical elements are there, but sped up and cut up a bit more than usual :) Good job man! Doshy's Shunt sounds quite ok, whereas the track by Stagga somehow did not convince me at all. Anyway, the package that cannot be missed!

I'm drowning with nasty, ugly, boring loan/legal work. I wouldn't have survived this horrible week without incjections of nasty global bass and similar. Here is absolutely fantastic Middle Eastern global bass mix by a DJ from Israel - Ido Wido. By Internet standards this stuff is old (one month he he) and has been already posted to a few sites, but it is so daaaaaamn good I have to give props to this guy mixing beautiful arabic melodies with hip hop / dancehall / cumbia / moombathon and whatnot. I really really dig this selection. Eh, all those arabic tambourines, drums, violins and vocals I definitely miss them.

Kosmos run by a producer and promoter Maceo Wyro is the best radio show in Poland, where the host always serves refreshing and eclectic selection of future twisted hip hop beats, heavy bass and whatnot :) Vol. 36 even brings a couple of ass-kicking Moombathon tunes!! The absolutely smashing highlight of this volume are howerver live recorded sets by Oddisee - an East Coast rapper hailing from Washington and TOKiMONSTA - representing mighty Brainfeeder, lady of beats best known for her crazy live sets. They f...g delivered even more than I expected. I'm kicking myself in the shins for not attending their performance from a week back. They visited my hometown and I was out of town :( What a shame.

Son of Kick comes from West London and has become a permanent feature on a map of London heavy bass scene. His crazy live performances and multi-instrumentalist skills made him famous across the globe. Fans in Poland had a chance to experience his absolutely stunning live set at this year's Audioriver Festival in Płock. Thousands of people in Hybrid Tent went totally mental! He has released a few singles and great videos like e.g. Guacha, Playing the Villain or Revolution B for Way Way, Muti or Botchit and Scarper, plus several sick remixes. A few days ago Son of Kick released another killing EP - From Here featuring psychic vocals of a Polish emcee RQM (currently residing in Berlin and a part of the infamous Berlin's Bass Maffia) and a set of heavy-weight remixers including: Pixelord, Rose Ryot and Night Drugs. The original From Here is a beautiful hybrid of psycho lyrical vocalizations by RQM, heavy drops, sick synths and whatnot happening in the background of this crowd-pleasing anthem. Rose Ryot offers an off-kilter, low-key refix with seriously distorted voice samples and quite weird, slow-burning beat accompanied by sick drums. Really mental tune. One of my favorite producer, Pixelord is more merciful changing the original into uplifting 2-step / future garage trip, with his trademark 8-bit synths hitting hard in the middle of the track. Dreamy and enchanting. Night Drugs definitely aims at peak of the night dancefloor experience in his smoothly rolling, party-oriented, heavy bass remix with stomping beat and talking synths. All in all From Here is a kind of release I'd like to see coming more from heavy bass / dubstep camp - superbly produced, versatile, open-minded, very catchy and entertaining. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!!

I would not call myself a fan of UK funky, house or RnB, though I am quite open to juke, ghetto booty and tropical experiments, provided they have some bass embedded. Steppin Up by French producer Raziek is a fucking BANGER with crispy clean sound, great vocals and super funky, cold beat. What else do you need to move your ass! Finally the tune which made my body step up a bit from traumatically boring corpo day at work. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!!

Early Autumn was a good time for fans of contemporary electronic music (preferrably with lots of bass in it). We saw a few heavy releases, which more or less lived up to the expectations (Robot Koch, Rustie, Modeselektor, Martyn, ill.Gates, Zomby), my pet labels, Saturate! Records and Robox Neotech released fantastic debut EP's (Raadsel, P-Fang), many quality tracks floated around the interweb. Meanwhile on my local scene, U Know Me Records confirmed their status of the best label for contemporary, twisted hip-hop beats made in Poland with very fresh and 'vintage' release Futura by a talented producer Galus. GRIM - FADED (CHAPTER 1)

Although I do this very rarely, I simply had to nick this from the messengers of good bass truth, i.e. Generation Bass blog, which once more proved to be a mine of real gems and which heralded this as "mixtape of the year". I agree 100%!! I post this in case you don't know / check generation bass (which I highly recommend, always) and to write a few comments, being blown to smithereens by the music I hear.

If zombies had their electronic music scene, GRIM would be their creepy f...g kings. Faded (chapter 1) is definitely the most unique and bizarre mixtape I've heard this year. It's like entering a new territory, where you have no idea what awaits you around the corner, except for the feeling that it must be something seriously scary but worth risking nonetheless. I love when music hits me sooooo hard emotionally. They call it post-trap, I'd call it post-trip :) as this sounds like coming down from a serious DMT trip, when the external reality is out of sync with your mental processes. Devilish, gripping, unnerving and with the vibe which would make Satan jelaous. I feel like dying ... I feel like dying ...

FADED RE-EDIT MIXTAPE CH. 1 by grim_music

FADED Chapter 1 is the first series, featuring all exclusive re-edit material, from Voodoo Village (a label hailing from Memhpis, US) creep kings - GRIM. Faded comes in advance of the release of GRIM’s EP, 7sins, coming from Voodoo Village before the end of 2011. I've never heard about either of them, but after this mixtape I'm instantly hooked up and virtually dying to hear their EP.

Speaker for the Dead is a producer, DJ, multi-instrumenalist from Philly who released a few days ago his debut EP called Illusionaire. This EP is worth checking just for the title track alone which is a real orgy of crazy distortions, guitar-like riffs and heavy basslines plus overwhelming synth work. A track which perfectly fits the description "It blew my mind" :) James Sauppe is an intelligent and skillful producer and offers much more thank sick drops and bowel-twisting sonic assault. He actually creates very interesting, listener-friendly Intelligent Bass Music, each tune a fully fledged composition telling different story, using different patterns and having a lot of space for unraveling various paths for listener to follow. His music is often disturbing and unnerving, like in my personal best tunes on this EP - Illusionaire, Particle Voyager or Sunset on Mars, but also offers a cinematic 'depth', like in Nocturnal or Fade Out.

Graveyard comes as a single including two versions of the title track and three cool remixes by Damscray (half of Demokracy), Low Limit (half of Lazer Sword) and Ghosts on Tape. Graveyeard 1985 is nice but cannot beat heavy basslines, sick bells and quirky vibe of 2010 version. This tune will seriously f..k with your brain! I thought one cannot improve the original, until I've heard juke's version by Damscray. Adding fast drums, but most of all - voice samples brought the game to yet another level of quirkiness and "Gimme the Graveyard, Gimme the Graveyard" will stuck in your head like burnt with branding iron. Definitely, NOT recommended for mentally unstable listeners. Low Limit, on the other hand, turned Graveyard into fantastic old-school acid space battle with lazers flying looooooooow. Dancefloor smasher for sure! Ghosts on Tape refixed another P-Fang's tune, Spiders. Most complex of the three remixes, continuously introducing new elements, transforming and changing, sounds like lo-fi, monochromatic patchwork of recycled sounds or live recording :) Strange and gripping. All in all another sick release from Robox Neotech presenting really unique and twisted music for your kinky pleasure. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Television channel Adult Swim, which is known for promoting quality music, has just released a fantastic compilation in collaboration with Scion. Unclassified offers unreleased tracks by top-notch artists, mainly hailing from the UK Future Urban scene. The tracklist is simply breathtaking! This rare and very versatile release shows enormous and ceasless creativity of well-established producers on this most-forward looking of electronic music scenes. My personal highlighs include smashing synth-driven bass anthem Eris by Starkey (All Hail Discordia!), a liminal and ethereal sonic excursion Hexagons by Zomby, off-kilter orchestrations in SBTRKT's Golddigger, sunny neon-acid trip of Ikonika's World on Mute, Give You Time by Babe Rainbow featuring beutiful vocal of Ashley Webber, killing grimey 2-step ting in Dusk & Blackdawn's remix of Geeneus's Knife and Gun or dark, bass meditation in ultra-deep Blow out the Candle by Pinch. The rest is equally good. Unclassified is a MUST for any fan of contemporary bass / garage / urban musis. Kudos to Adult Swim for feeling the pulse right where it is throbbing most. Again.

Usually I do not post early soundcloud previews on my blog, I rather tend to review things in their final form, but I couldn't help myself with this preview of Hermutt Lobby & NON material forthcoming soon on the French netlabel Jarring Effects. Herrmutt Lobby is a collective of musicians, producers, 'scratch composers' & more from Brussels, but if I'm not mistaken, most of them currently reside in Berlin? I really dig Hermutt Lobby's music, in particular that published on Eat Concrete (check their Bussfudge Powerscones EP), but this preview of new tracks literally blew my mind! Best, most solid, coherent, and neck-straining beats, with a dash of experimental electronica, I've heard in a while. It really twisted my neurons, hard. Definitely, most eagearly awaited release this year.

Alexey Nikitin a.k.a. Nocow has just released a free beat tape - Ruins Tape on the Syberian G5 Music label. I cannot think of any excuse not to grab this beautiful thing. Nocow is like an invisble spider weaving a dark, magic web of deep, throbbing sound based on 2-step / post garage beat. His trips are moody and oneiric, and sonic landscapes he paints through artificial machines, though heavily tained with melancholia and nostalgia, sparkle with emotions touching the listeners minds at some subliminal level. I devour these compositions in full, anxiously waiting for more, which hopefully happens soon, when Nocow releases his full-length LP on G5 music later this year. DOKTOR KRANK'S RELEASE OF THE MONTH

I have been a fan of Norwegian producer Gisle Martens Meyer a.k.a. UGRESS for years. He is among my top-10 artists currently working in the field of electronic music. It is really sad that not many people outside his home country know his fantastic compositions. Thus, I was really stoked to see his two new releases hitting the airwaves recently.

The soundtrack to the documentary on a famous Norwegian artist - Pushwagner is a collection of new and previously released tunes, now remastered and edited, showcasing diverse projects of Mr. Meyer - apart from Ugress, also Ninja 9000, Nebular Spool or Shadow of the Beat. The music is simply AWESOME! Pushwagner is the best soundtrack I've heard in a long time, a spacey cinematic trip through sad but beautiful and intriguing sonic landscapes. It is also the best release from Ugress camp in years. He perfectly builds the atmosphere, sometimes using extensive orchestration then moving to more low-key areas, just to return to a hectic, pumping beat and ear-catching synths which are his trademark. He tells a story with his music, and I'll definitely buy a DVD with the documentary to see how it worked with moving pictures. People, don't sleep on Ugress, even if you've never heard about him. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Yesterday I felt like stretching my limbs and dancing, today I yearn for feeding my mind and emotions.

Starting off with Dailon and his Conscioushift EP released a few days ago on Urban Waves Records. Powerful, cosmic neon trips in crunky 8-bit staffage with absolutely amazing synths. I can't even mention my personal highlight of the 6-track EP - all of them offer top-notch listening experience and all of them have their own unique style. One of the best releases this year without a doubt. Peeps, don't sleep on this and hurry to bandcamp. For a limited period of time you can get this for free, but I strongly encourage you to support the efforts the artist put into creation of this beautiful music.

More conscious-expanding music comes from Mexicans With Guns and amzing remix of Jorge Reyes & Samuel Zyman's Burning the Codices. Tribal chants in a beautifully rolling bass-heavy / beatz interpretation - this is the mixture I really dig. Ernest Gonzales from MWG writes: I recently watched The Other Conquest, a film by Salvador Carrasco, about the Spanish conquest of Mexico. I was inspired by a haunting song on the soundtrack called "Burning the Codices." Finally after powerful and successful acid trip, we steer to more laidback waters courtesy of The Walton Hoax duo (Jeroen Vande Voorde and Peter van Ewijk) hailing from Antwerp (Belgium). The Chemical Burn EP, released on !mpact Recordings offers a mixture of 2-step, UKG, dubstep, ambient and electronica with singer-songwriter vocals, which surprisingly works very well. The title track is already on heavy rotation in my player. I keep my fingers crossed for this project, we would definitely see more goodies coming from them in the future.

Video of the title track has already made quite a fuss in the interweb thanks to its mesmerizing appeal.

One of the biggest anthems of my techno era - Acid Phase by Emmanuel Top - in a 21st Century Edit by crazy Frenchmen from Stereo Heroes!! This stomping, pounding refix brought back all the memories of the years spent in beautiful Cologne (Germany) in the middle of the 90's and in particular great parties in the legendary Hippodrome in Hennef, where I lost myself many times in the ecstatic dancing with thousands of ravers jumping around, powered by nothing more than acid in my veins and liters of cold water :))

Since then I have lost interest in techno (with minor exceptions), but I would still pay dearly for a chance of experiencing this tribal unity of sweating bodies absorbing music like sponge shrouded with smoke and treated with all kinds of lasers. Jakub "NOX" Abroziak is a talented 20-year old beatmaker from Poland. On his Atom EP he offers a fresh mix of spacey post hip-hop beats, strange vocal samples with plethora of bleeps and off-kilter sound effects. Diversity is the key when describing the music of this youngster who explores various paths of electronic landscape, in the end knitting them together into quite interesting and developed compositions. His production skills still leave room for improvement, but he already knows how to build intriguing atmosphere and ear-catching passages ("Atom", "Free Electron" or "Women in Hiroshima") and is not afraid of more experimental excercises ("Proton Decay" of "Neutron/Altai"). As a deliciously tasty dessert come two remixes by heavy-weight champions of new beatz from Germany and Poland. Proton Decay's remix by one of my favorite producers, Robot Koch from Berlin, is my personal highlight of the entire release. This guy never disappoints! His music imagination and sensitivity along with the immaculate production always work soooooo well with my emotions. His tunes are simply "touching" for the lack of the better word, and this remix is definitely one of the best I've heard from Robot this year. Teielte from Poland keeps pace with Robert, delivering a nice up-beat refix of Quarks. All in all Atom EP by Nox is definitely worth checking and I'm really proud that more and more artists from my country hit the global (if niche) electronic music circuit with quality stuff.

Proper bass treat in a mix by UK-based producer Inaudible. One of the best mid-tempo / heavy bass / twisted beatz shit mix I've heard in a while. It is a collection of his own remixes and original tracks. His music just shows that - given an intelligent and skillful producer, who knows how to squeeze proper juice from his machines - the glitch hop with heavy basslines, occasional wobbles and serious distortions do not need to be a boring, repetitious, and straight dumb, filthy affair (like 80% of what is being released or pushed recently under dubstep / glitch-hop / heavy bass tags). No sarcasm intended, just a statement of fact. Unfortunately. Enjoy this mix, it will be a real pleasure for your ears.

Krampfhaft - Spit Thunder EP (Saturate Records)

First promos, previews and video trailers of the super duper release Spit Thunder by Krampfhaft (Joris van Grunsven from the Netherlends) on Saturate Records appeared months ago and finally at the begining of July this thing is out physically (7") and digitally (A vinyl is released in just 250 copies, you better hurry). This is the type of futuristic music I am into right now! Very well produced mash up of mutant lazer bass, juke beats, extravagant and experimental electronic excursions into sonic landscapes full of mind-twisting synths and stabs of pure liquid sound. The title track Spit Thunder is most 'classic juke' of the four, but more tuned-down, built on nice and spacey button work. Perfect Grain Structure has a totally infectious 'silly' beat, a kind of funny experiment which works surprisingly well. However, my personal highlight of this release comes as a digital bonus. In Congo Blade Runner the artist creates an ever-expanding sonic structure with catchy melody lines and fantastic synths. Killer! Grind is another 'jukey' trip but I also read it as a an illustration of some space drama, a deep cosmic yearning of poor machines lost forever in the void ...

Spit Thunder is a great follow-up to Brightly Colored Candy Teardrops released last year (read my review). This guy has his own distinct style and we will see more great releases from him very soon (e.g. forthcoming on Rwina Records). Saturate Records proved again they are a label to watch. All their releases so far (Krampfhaft, heRobust, Luisterwaar, Acre) were of top-notch quality and offered future-oriented beatz music which really suits my taste. Forthcoming releases (e.g. Coco Bryce) sound equally tasty :)

Halo Nova - Goombaton EP (Generation Bass Presents MoomBah)

Global, transnational, ghetto bass prime blog Generation Bass has started a very interesting series of digi releases called Generation Bass Presents MoomBah. As usual, GB is fast to catch new developments on the global bass scene, now paying due respect to the phenomenon of Moombahton (they were instrumental in building the entire thing in the first place), which mixes strong Latin influences with very modern dancefloor-oriented, ghetto-tech/juke/dutch house beats, catchy vocal lines and heavy bass. Their first release in the series comes from a young and talented artist from Tampa, Florida - Halo Nova (aka Nick Pittsinger) and a package includes a few original tracks plus remixes by Sabbo from Israel and and Shazalakazoo from Serbia. The title track "Get Sticky" is a typical Moombahton patchwork, while Sabbo turned it into a totally overwhelming ravey dancefloor beast with oldschool acid loops made in TB-303 and fast drums. TUNE! Shazalakazoo has a softer, but even more consistent approach, and in his refix created a fantastically rolling, melodic banger! "Panty Raid" builds up quite nicely, but it is another tune "Haunted Circuits" that finally delivers a spacey beat and Moombahcore mayhem. However, my personal highlight of this release is "Tradicion Digitales" with fantastic drums, great delays and super dubby beatz. Elektric riddim par excellence. Highly infectious and not to be played while sitting in your working cubicle as uncontrolled spasms of your limbs may scare the shit out of your co-slaves :)) All in all a very good release, highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Powered by Goethe-Institut / Nairobi, BLNRB is an amazing project in which artists from Berlin mingle their artistic fluids with Kenyan producers, MC's and bands. The final effect of their joint efforts and many jam sessions over the span of two years, now to be released in the form of 18-track compilation "BLNRB - Welcome to the Madhouse" is really, really inspiring, eclectic and top-quality in terms of production. This type of collaborations I would like to hear and see more in Contemporary World Music!!!

Jahcoozi, Modeselektor, Gebrüder Teichmann, Mister Abbas, Kimya and Lon´Jon or the first lady of Kenyan rap, Nazizi, electropop band Just A Band and blind singer/guitarist Michel Ongaru plus six members of the HipHop collective Ukoo Flan, offer a real treat of fantastic electronic beatz by top producers from Berlin Bass Maffia and one-of-the-kind African riddims. I only wish there were more collaborations featuring Modeselektor as my personal highlight and definitely the best 'riddim' I heard this year is Monkeyflip featuring Modeselektor, Nazizi and Abbas. What a BEAST!! The same two emcees plus Jahcoozi are featured on the second best track on this compilation, i.e. title Madhouse. Check the entire package, it's super tasty, uplifting and constitute the great soundtrack for your home or office listening as well as outdoor activities :) I can only imagine the madhouse this little funky group creates when live on stage. I wish I was there. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

DOKTOR KRANK'S RELEASE OF THE MONTH - 9 out of 10***

Damscray (Albert Khasanov) from Russian Super Bass Duo, Demokracy, has just released his solo work - Blot Method EP. Another sure winner from Siberian Label, G5 Music, distributed worldwide by Alpha Pup. If I am to describe this versatile release in one sentence, I'd say this is oriental music produced by a modern shaman for all mechanical beings. I read a lot of SF stuff and I can easily imagine this music as a perfect score to stories about intelligent AI's in post-human starfaring reality. This is as soulless, cold and nerdy as electronic music can ever be, yet full of 'emotions' but of more teethgritting, aggressive and synthetic type. Which I really like! All humans are indeed robots but built with organic matter :) As a matter of fact, most humans live their entire lives in robotic stupor, fed with media celebrity pulp, never stepping out of their reality tunnels manufactured by the Mainstream Totality. Unfortunately, most of such robots will never hear this stuff, which is a real shame.

The beginning and closing tracks staple together four hard, raw and veeeeery digital tunes thrown by Damscray at listeners with enormous and totally consistent power. "Sandworm" makes a beautiful oriental introduction to mechanical heaviness. "Blot Method" and "Headplate" are amazing symphonies of silly hydraulic pistons & gears, with unnverving synths and distorted basslines which any robot would simply love at first hearing. Steampunk par excellence! A f***k anthem and my personal highlight, "Bug Detector" will not only detect all bugs in your sytem but will definitely teach them how to dance, whereas "One Finger Punch" will punch holes in your mind with every drop and ass-kicking drums. All ending in a kind of bass-heavy anti-climax in "The Rhythm Room". I strongly recommend Blot Method EP. Don't sleep on this people, one of the best releases this year.

Slit Jockey Records has just released a fantastic EP by funky street bass warrior SDUK hailing from West London. Really, one of the best records I heard this year. Grab a synth-driven grimey beast of the tune TeeHee for free (my personal highlight) and definitely buy the rest as it's worth every penny. The title track YouNyt will f...g turn your mind upside down with ultra heavy slabs of hot neon extravaganza in the best tradition of Joker. Tune! Dugs are strong on heavy rave vibe again and the remixes by Talk (rave on!!!!!!), Hellfire Machine (slowly burning roller) and finally Halp (most ambitious and versitile of the three) contribute some really nice moments to this Epic package. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

The Italian duo, Planet Soap returns to Car Crash Set with a new EP Escape From Supernova 500 to be released on June, 21st. The package includes two original tracks and three, quite diverse, remixes.

Supernova500 is an ambitious heavy-bass symphony with lots of distortions and very nice orchestration successfully painting extratterestial sonic landscapes. Escape from Supernova is a more up-tempo thing and I feel like attending a steam-punk party for decommissioned robots...

My personal highlight of this EP, Bass Science's remix of Supernova 500 is a 'silly' wonky banger full of unnverving cosmic synths, broken voice samples and off-tempo drums in a kind of twisted - and kitschy - space drama. Not to be taken literally of course :)

Escape from Supernova refixed by the master of cyberblap + verb is a real orgy of neon synths slowly burning through your mind with a power of E-class planet destroyer.

96wrld hailing from Lithuania, in Space Invaders Remix goes totally off the hook playing with his 8-bit toys like crazy m***er.

I encourage you to check this EP when it is finally out. Kudos to Car Crash Set for consistently releasing quality stuff.

Grillo - Show'em Sumo EP

Show'Em Sumo is another 'concept' album from a talented beatmaker Grillo. Last year I posted his I had U Ken EP on this blog. Now Grillo returns with a collection of beats devoted to the power of Edmond Honda, a famous sumo wrestler (apparently). You can call me an ignorant but I have no idea who Honda is :) Anyway, the artist collected scraps and pieces, polished them and released as full-fledged, nice flowing compositions which encompass quite a broad sound range and present very consistent music experience all across the board. From my personal favorite of the EP, Oicho Throw, an oneiric beat trip with 'tubular' synths, spacey Sumo Splash through 8-bit funky neon banger called Bathhouse of the Rising Sun and more heavy bass-laden The Sumo Clinic or All Oichos up to quite surprising and ass-shaking 4/4 joint - Flying Headbutt. All in all I highly recommend checking Grillo's beats - diversity is the key here!

Luc Derks a.k.a. Lusterwaar (Listenwear in English) is a new producer from Heerlen, Netherlands. Saturate Records, which you should remember from great albums by heRobust or Krampfhaft, has just released this mega EP Dry/Wet which you can download on pay-what-you-want basis (no limit) via Saturate Records Bandcamp.

Apparently Luisterwaar, after listening to tons of music while skateboarding, reached the only possible conclusion - 95% of music you hear in the radio, tv, public spaces etc. is pure shiet and crap. He decided to put those remaining scraps of good and inspiring sound together and produce his own music. I must say he has succeeded extroardinarily. 11 tracks are superb exercise in mutant hip-hop beats running on a powerful drum kicks, distorted breaks and heavy sub-bass with great melodies weaving in the background and impeccable synth job all along. Mature compositions and great production skills plus darkish vibe I really dig recently create very attractive package. The more so if one remembers that this is a debut! Finally, kudos for the funniest title I've heard in a while, Praise the Lord-ah for Having No Job-ah :)), which is by coincidence my personal highlight of this release and which reminds me of Brainfeeder stuff (in particular Lorn). This record made my day. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank. Once again Saturate Records shows good selection. Can't wait for more releases from them.

The Earth Day - which by accident is also my Birthday :))) - is the great time to present news about amazing event taking place on one of the most beautiful islands of our Gaia - Hawaii. The 2nd Annual Alchemeyez Visionary Art Congress will be held May 13-15 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. I have a kind request to scientists (not necessarily representing orthodox science) working on teleportation, please send me a prototype, any prototype, so that I can port myself to Hawaii in two weeks. This is the type of event one has to experience directly.

The event is a festival and conference uniting people from across the globe around the idea that visionary art forms can heal and strengthen the collective spirit of humanity. On 19 April 2011, 21-year-old Midwest-native beatmaker Fancy Mike released Sigma Chi Primavera, his follow up to last year's Madison Square Gardner on the Canadian label King Deluxe Records. Thumbs up to Fancy Mike and King Deluxe for gathering so many great collaborators and remixers, incl. Pixelord, Montgomery Clunk, Alphabets Heaven, Constrobuz, Jack Contra, Sephen Farris, ages, Bugseed, Starfawn. As a whole a very interesting and eclectic album. As usual with this type of multi-genre, collaborative thing, diversity is the key here. Cosmic mutant beatz and a kind of lo-fi aesthetics seem to be the leitmotive of all tracks, as well as absolutely impeccable production quality. The rest is just an orgy of forward-looking, unrestrainted, contemporary sonic explorations served by Fancy Mike and his talented young friends. I can easily imagine powerful Adult Swim with its bright neon synths and great samples storming any dancefloor, just paving the way for my favorite banger of this release i.e. Pixelord' tron cat remix of Ramachandran #011010. 8-bit sound has never been more appealing than under the buttons of this Russian guy, he really knows how to achieve more with less. Whereas Captain Nero featuring Romanian wizzkid Monty Clunk is a kind of modern tribal psychedelia mixing tambourine and heavy drums with crazy synths and all-encompassing voice drifting in the background. Other tunes on this amazing EP tell their own story. Sometimes it is just pure beauty like in Swan Swan (oh boy this female vocal turns me on) or off-kilter experiments in Alphabets Heaven's Mephistopheles Mix of Ramachandran or Ninja Tune'ish broken beat in satanicpornocultshop's bleep bloop blorp refix of the same tune. Jack Contra's Pagliacci Reprise of Lazer Opera, reminding me of Kid606 and other artists from Titerbeat roster, is a real slap in the face of any classic Opera fun :)) Well, f..k them, I still love his lazers and heavy guitar riffs. The rest is equally good, so don't hesitate and load these sonic bullets to your player and deliver some fresh energy to your synapses. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!!!

A year after their previous release, Bass Science returns to Made In Glitch and again unleash loads of ill bass and stomping beat on the general public. Their EP Slip'n'Side featuring remixes by David Starfire and Mindelixir will be available on Addictech on 24th April. The title track is a clever bass-driven banger which does not attack the listener with glitched-to-the-max sonic assult but offers a sound story unfolding very nice from the first note. I'd really wish hearing more of this type of approch to production and composition building from the glitch hop / heavy bass/ dubstep camp. David Starfire's remix (f. I-Catching) of Mochipet's Godzilla New Year is still one of my favorite anthems, thus I am positive Slip'N'Slide's remix by them will be killing!! Pretty excited to hear the entire thing next week.

Jakub 'Nox' Ambroziak, is another interesting producer emerging from Poland (hailing from Słupsk in northern part of our beautiful country). Some time ago he released a very interesting No Album EP and is currently working on the new material for his forthcoming Atom EP. No Album EP offers five compositions of experimental, twisted, instrumental hip-hop with quite dynamic beatz, drums and pads, and nicely embedded voice samples. Each track tells a different story, attracting the listener to explore this sonic landscape. A name to watch for the future definitely!

I highly recommend checking Nox's mix he did for the best mutant beat radio show in Poland - i.e. Kosmos hosted by Maceo Wyro. Nox's selection in this mix is absolutely top-notch and he creates great vibe all across the journey he takes his listeners for.

I always welcome new stuff by Starkey with great excitement and anticipation. Judging by the preview, his forthcoming "Space Traitor vol. 2" to be released in June on Civil Music will be huuuuuge. Master of heavy miasmatic bass'n'synths squeezes all juices out of his machines. The sound of e.g. "Street Rockers" simply kills and "Bricks ft. Curly Castro" is the best what street bass can offer. The remixes accompanying the originals (Monky, The Elementz, to name my favorite ones) create really explosive package. Excited!

Error Broadcast has just released a fascinating debut by the young producer from the US. iL's apoLLo1ne3hree EP is one of the most interesting and inspiring works I've heard in a while. Digesting this stuff took some time, but it was definitely worth it!

iL comes from Illinois and has a very peculiar and unique method of self expression, I must say. He produces heavily squashed, cut-up beats, patching weird and defragmented sound samples together as if by a hand of blind Chaos Magician practicing the art of making powerful audio sigils, creating a kind of swirling and nigthmarish stream of consciousness. I yet have to decide whether he is defending himself against his inner demons or whether he tries to attract innocent souls to his demonic world :) He goes far off the beaten track in the process, even for the beatz scene which is full of brave explorers of uncharted soundscapes. A listener versed in contemporary beat music will discover many familiar traits, from ambient, RnB or post-garage to Lucky-Me type of soulful dubs, but as a whole the listening experience is really one of the kind. Though this may not seem the case at the first hearing, iL mixes all the short pieces very craftily and skilfully delivering very individual and mature compositions. I appreciate artists following their own path, in particular when this path is not easy to sell to the general public. In the end such an approach will always payback in good fortune and respect. Enthusiastic reviews and opinions of iL's EP in the blogosphere seem to prove this. Naming highlights of this release makes no sense, this is the work of art to be digested end-to-end. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!

I love off-kilter, abstract electronic trips and thanks God I've checked my facebook site, where I found a link to Urban Waves Compilation. I've never heard of Urban Waves and could have missed this gem. I was quite surprised to find so many intereseting tracks there by artists whose names, in large majority, I saw for the first time. 22 producers deliver tons of experimental beatz, chip tune keys, deep groovy loops of sick abstract sounds, twisted synth improvisations, distorted bleeps, quite often with mental head-nodding force (well, my neck hurts). The quality of this compilation is exceptional, cause nearly all these tracks are at least very good, which does not happen so often with this type of beat experiments. Russian beatmakers are unstoppable. They are young, talented and bring their unique sensitivity and 'soul' to the contemporary electronic music. They don't care about fashion and hype which is quite prevalent also in non-mainstram music nowadays (see: future garage or uk funky I am really fed up with at the moment), they simply do their thing. 19-year old (sic!), Feodor Pereverzev from Moscow, a.k.a. Moa Pillar is the prime example of this new wave of fascinating artists from Russia. He has just released a fantastic The Moon and Thunder Dance EP on the new Russian imprint G5 Music (part of the respected Gimme5 community), supported worldwide by the American Alpha Pup Records.

Many of you probably heard Water Lilly - one of the biggest anthems and bangers and one of my personal top tracks of 2010. When I first heard this tune I felt as if someone had slapped me in the face and then pushed me off the cliff. But I did not crash. On the contrary, this was a great flight! The raw power of Moa Pillar's sonic assault instantly increased my interest in music made in Russia tenfold. Though other tracks do not attack the listener with equally brute and beautiful force, this EP proves that Moa Pillar like no other artist can very skilfully combine regional, ethnic soundscape with ultra modern heavy bass & mutant beatz, creating synth-driven compositions, weaving through the listener's mind like good stories told by old shamans at the fireworks in the dark woods. I feel particularly attuned to this feeling of atavistic yearning and archaic undercurrent richly distributed in Moa Pillar's music, as in enchanting Red in Rainbow or Flying Low. Such soulful moments are so sorely missing from the music I hear nowadays, that I cannot remove a big smile from my face. Female vocals in Heama with fantastic, spacey synth improvisations simply turn me on! Lake Mystery starts like a typical oriental, arabic song to suddenly twist into cut-up ethnic chants with lots of beautiful bleeps and bits in the background building up to absolutely mesmerizing trip! As in the case of many artists from Eastern Europe I heard recently I really wonder how come such youngsters are able to produce such a mature music?

For years, I've been a strong adherent of Entheogenic Reformation in oppossition to the Pharmacratic Inquisition we face daily in our fucked up reality and my mind is really satisfied listening to such a beautiful, modern yet archaic and in the end - psychedelic stuff. We all know the stories of Siberian shamans, don't we? This is the music these wizards would definitely incorporate in their ceremonies with ease :))

I am deeply sorry, for my far too-long stream of consciousness, but somehow this music has inspired me to creative (I hope) writing which unfortunately you have been now exposed to... Anyway, check this music and let yourself be attracted to the tribal world of Mr. Moa Pillar:

Apart from great music content, this EP shows more amazing talents, as the artwork by Hargi Csik & Erik Kirtley is the best thing in this department I've seen in months! Simple but extremely effective and emotional, the way I like :)

You better memorize the name of G5 Music, this imprint has more amazing music from Russia in the pipeline. Moa Pillar's is just the beginning, trust my werd!

Once in a while I come across the stuff escaping all classifications, hard-to-digest, demanding but delivering quite a unique experience. But it is exceptionally hard to write a few critical sentences about the actual 'songs' I heard in this parituclar case. Rappayamatantra EP, to be dropped March, 22 on the Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label is the debut (if one does not count self-released Dxcne EP which not many people had a chance to listen to probably) by Jeremiah Jae, 21-year old producer and rapper from Chicago whose speciality seems to be serious beatscooking. Yes, his music is cooky, avantgarde, lo-fi trip in the best tradition of plunderphonics (in particular in tracks like The Dirty Collector pt. 1 reminding me of the works of champions of this sound - Negativeland). A patchowork of fantastic strange samples, off-the-beat, mutant hip-hop sonic textures with weird rhyming and vocalizations, experimental jazz improvisations overstretched beyond any limits, synthetizers playing creepy melodies, often mutating into spastic chaos or downright silly rhymes. Actualy, well-controlled chaos rules the music work of Jeremiah Jae, and though this type of experimental, sample based, cut-up approach to production process is nothing exceptional or new, this guy - while drawing inspiration from so many sources - has a rare ability of putting all these pieces into one nearly coherent whole. I really admire his bravery thanks to which he has created a very personal work of art which he nonetheless shares very willingly with the listeneres delivering quite a unique experience. My personal highlights of this EP incl. Seasons and Raw Tapes - probably most accessible and traditional tracks in the set plus totally off-kilter Glitter Kit. This is not an easy music, you would not dance your ass off to the beat, definitely you would not be able to chill out he he, but I encourage you to give it a try. Such an impressive music erudition at such a young age does not surprise if one learns that his father was a musical director for Miles Davis in the late years of Davis's career and his mother sang gospel. Later this year, Brainfeeder will release Jeremiah Jae's full length Raw Money Raps and I will be eagerly awaiting more weird stuff from this cooky wizardy

Jeremiah Jae visited Poland a few days ago playing together with another heavy weight beatsmith from Brainfeeder roster - Teebs. I couldn't make it (I really really wish I was there) and I believe he gave one-of-the-kind performance...

Ultra Heavy Bass Champion - Eprom will drop in April another super bombastic and stomping release on RWINA, following his mighty Humanoid EP (Humanoid is still one of my top heavy bass anthems of all times). Pipe Dream, Chromium Decay, and The Symbiote are a rollercoaster of one-of-a-kind EPROM glitchy basslines rolling through the sonic landscape like a slow, but heavy armed, tank through the modern battlefield methodically clearing the terrain in front of it with mind-twisting stabs of pure digital fiiiiiiiiiiiireeeeeeee! I also have my favorite roller out of the three killing tracks. The Symbiote with its 21st century, twisted and distorted, robotic organs, could easily become a part of music score of some post-apocalyptic steam-punk thriller. Can't wait for this release. A must for any fan of straight-in-yer-face dancefloor smashers!

Damscray - Make Me Juke

I have ambivalent feelings about the juke (house) as such, never know how to do a proper footwork on the dancefloor - ha ha. The sound patterns used by producers seem to be too repetitious in a longer run. There are of course some interesting artists hailing e.g. from France or Benelux (Moveltraxx family) and I like ghetto house / bastard juke aesthetics when combined with some other form of contemporary IDM music into a more variable music textures (e.g.: Schlachthofbronx, many producers from tigerbeat6). But something changed recently and in 2010 juke sound started gradually leaking into Europe / UK scene adding up another flavor to already twisted underground urban patchwork there (even ending up on some comp released by Planet Mu!!). Will Juke replace another stomping heavy-bass genre which now seems to be dead - I mean Bassline? Will we soon talk and write about UK J as an equal sibling to UK G or UK F? Honestly, I doubt it but trying new avenues in music is always better then copying others, me thinks. There are more and more examples of successful flirts with juke recently. Damscray is one of them definitely.

Damscray (representing 1/2 of my favorite duo of synth slayers from Alfa Centauri ) has just released a super-duper juke EP featuring 6 original tracks and 2 absolutely gorgeous remixes (one of them totally mental!). Just listen to a super fat Stay High sounding like seriously accelerated glitch hop joint with dark, underlying bassline - a dancefloor killer for sure! One of the most powerful and straight-in-yer-face tunes I've heard this year! My personal highlight of the entire release. Clearly, Damscray uses juke aesthetics to experiment with his fancy gear moving from mutant beatz, dubstep and wonky to juke, mixing it all like a devil in one big post-post-something cauldron, like in sick Warriors or Itz Darkness or extremely dubstep'ish - Make Me Juke. A 'cannonical' juke tune - Smellin Feelin has been robo- reslipped by +verb into wobbley affair with amazing crispy synths. TUNE! But the real gut-twisting, totally mental trip awaits the listener in Lakritze's remix of Warriors. Though I heard this tune before it never ceases to grip my neurons and give me creeps! I'll play this tune to my wife next time she pisses me off :) All in all, a very refreshing release, definitely worth checking even if you are not a big fan of ghetto / juke sound. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

In December Sneaky released "Feel Like a Remix" LP, available on e.g. JUNO and other Internet retailers. A remix album of great beauty and very eclectic selection of tunes featuring remixes and reinterpretations from Sneaky's album "Feel Like A King ...Pluck A String" released in 2009. Remixers include Dj High Priest, Peter Parker, Danny Drive Thru, GlueKids, Robot Koch, Paper Tiger, Paddy Steer, Filewile and Sneaky himself . I have been really enchanted by these compositions. Next to Peter Parker's fantastic refix of Deeper, Dj High Priest's laidback, rainy song, Danny Drive Thru's superb refix of Toytown Elegy or Gluekids remix of Dark Joy have been heavily rinsed in my player recently. This music has soul and feelings, offering well-developed, multi-layered music compositions with laidback, sometimes acoustic, jazzy edge moving into more stomping electronic beat and drums. I have been suffering from mild winter depression (which is strange as the sun is shining bright like never before this winter) and this album just attunes so well with my mood :) Totally underrated release in my opinion. This album needs more exposure peeps! Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Demokracy - Double Star EP

A few weeks ago, I already wrote a short review of the absolutely smashing new Double Star EP by Demokracy from Siberia (Russia). But, as the release drops today exclusively on Beatport. (8th of March in the rest of the virtuality), and I would really really like you to check this ultra contemporary music, hear me once more and check these beautiful and kinky beats and twisted synth extravaganza. Woth every penny!

Demokracy - Double Star Ep - Rbxep20 by Robox Neotech

The title track Double Star is the essence of Demokracy for me, showing their trademark, fluid and 'talking' synths and great rhytmic sections with analog drums and pads! And the melody! Well, they know how to tell 'stories' with their music, how to build full-fledged compositions or cut voice samples. The music you will never be bored with, eclectic, following its own path and what is equally important - with serious banger potential. When I listen to Demokracy in my car I nod and swerve my head like crazy ha ha. Double Star also features the mighty Searchlight which was in top-5 of my tracks in 2010, but this time with added great vocals by Didjelirium (whom you might remember from collaborations with Doshy). WOW! And I thought this tune could not have been better. There is also another, fat, dark and enchanting roller I heard before - Zeroth Law. I simply love these synths, smacking you across the ears with raw power, yet at the same time spreading strange warmth on your synapses. Fuck, I know I am starting to sound bombastic but this is how I respond and evaluate this type of music - on a visceral rather than cerebral level. Deadhead shows the most Skwee face of Demokracy with a totally amazing intro and siiiiiiiiiiick drops. I don't know what are their drinking or eating habits over there in Siberia, but I want the same. Pronto! Then, the artists take the listeners to the Zone full of 8-bit bleeps, crazy button improvisations, cut-up voice samples and drilling bass in a kind of broken beat frenzy. Voight Kampff is a pure mechanical beauty and the beast, lots of spacey synths and ultra heavy bass - the Daft Punk of the future. Awesome!

Double Star EP is the type of contemporary, mutant electronic music I wish to hear more in 2011. Don't sleep on Demokracy peeps. The new star is being born ... What is more, this will be followed by Double Star EP Remixes, incl. rmxes by Zet., Coco Bryce, Bass Science, Montgomery Clunk, Doshy, Stagga and more. Can't wait! .

Corporation is squeezing the last juices from me, my blog suffers, but I shall never surrender he he he. I present a few tunes worth checking out of the mass of music that accumulated over the last few weeks. I would like to apologize to all the great artists and promoters out there sending their stuff to me but the time is a scarce commodity in Dr Krank's mansion recently. Trust me, I hear ya and I hear your stuff. Keep up the good work guys - I love you! (Dr Krank's waving a hand in late Michael Jackson's manner).

I am really proud to post a couple of tunes coming from Poland. U Know Me Records, a new sibling labal of JuNouMi Rec (releasing polish hip-hop since 2002) is definitely at the forefront of new beatz movement made in Poland right now. After a fantastic release of Teielte's Homeworkz (read my review here) and an interesting LP Digital Gaden by Kixnare last year, they have new tunes in the pipeline.

The first release from U Know Me in 2011 is a laidback, jazzy and twisted funky stuff from Daniel Drumz available on 10" vinyl or in digital format (e.g. on Juno) Here is the preview of the title track "Lay Low On The Treble" reminding me of the music released on Tokyo Dawn Records. The next release on this label will be even better!! Let me take you for an absolutely mesmerizing and enchanting trip with Lower Entrance featuring oneiric vocals of Natalia Grosiak. This tune made my day and really helped to drop out at least for a few minutes. Longish intro leads to the great, trippy beat with a nice use of delays and Natalia singing in a manner of Oriental divas. She bought me instantly.Unknown Variation is the first single from forthcoming Lower Entrance's EP [UKM 004]. Can't wait to hear the rest of the stuff.

ptr1 from Płock (Poland) released one of the best EP's of 2010 (Above the Structures), and his Cold has been haunting me for months. His new tune Warmth posted to soundcloud is equally good. ptr1 again creates the moody sonic excursion into the barren land. Beautiful!

Robot Koch is a great producer but equally good remixer. What he did to Kraddy's Let Go, as a part of the Labirynth Remix Project , is simply 'osom!! Lush vocals of Juice Aleem and Justice and heavy bass, dubby beat make this tune an instant crowd-pleaser. I wish I was now at the dancefloor in some club with sweaty bodies dancing and jumping around me to this groovy robotic rhythm. TIP!
