lukeing forward - o wyjątkowo trafnym tytule:
Wandering in Urban Fog. Prawdziwa, zaskakująca perełka.
Mroczny dubstep rzeczywiście pobrzmiewa w kilku utworach, ale płyta zdecydowanie wykracza poza jeden gatunek muzyczny, bo słychać w niej też ambientowe pluskania, downtempo, połamane bity czy eksperymentalne elektroniczne "solówki". Muzykę lukeinforward określiłbym raczej jako inteligentną elektronikę w jej mroczniejszym wydaniu. Bardzo różnorodną i urozmaiconą elektronikę.
Niepokojąca, w pozytywnym znaczeniu tego słowa, muzyka o świetnej, bardzo do mnie przemawiającej "estetyce". Ambientowe tekstury w tle rozwijające się w bardzo przestrzenne elektroniczne kompozycje, 'płynące' melodie prowadzące słuchacza przez senne krajobrazy, miejskie wieczory, przy zamglonym żółtym świetle ulicznych lamp sodowych. Pewnie to bardzo subiektywne odczucie, ale słuchanie tej muzyki przywodzi mi na myśl wiktoriańską Anglię i opowieści o Kubie Rozpruwaczu z jednej strony i amerykańskie filmy SF z lat 50-tych z drugiej. O czym zresztą przekonują tytuły utworów – np. Insane Landing, Feel the motion of the Air. Muzyka lukeing forward sprawdziłaby się doskonale jako ścieżka dźwiękowa do takich mrocznych filmów SF, ewentualnie horrorów, kręconych 40 lat temu :) Pod tym względem nieco przypomina dokonania norweskiego

Kept in unlocked prison, oprócz dubstepowych, nisko-tonowych podkładów czuć trochę estetykę Aphex Twin - Squarepusherową, ale na pewno nie naśladownictwo. Generalnie w każdym numerze bardzo dużo się dzieje. Domyślam się że autor włożył w to mnóstwo pracy, i na pewno może odczuwać pełną satysfakcję, bo wyszło mu nietuzinkowe dzieło, urozmaicone, z produkcją na bardzo dobrym poziomie. I nie ma co używać zwrotów typu "Polak też potrafi", bo wierzę, że album ten obroni się spokojnie na świecie bez takich określeń. Kawał inteligentnej, dojrzałej i interesującej muzyki. Czekam z wielkim nadziejami na kolejne produkcje lukeing forward. Im szybciej tym lepiej.

Through the recommendation at dubstepforum.pl, I came across a record of the Polish musician – lukeing forward – with a very adequate title: ‘Wandering in Urban Fog’. Really surprising gem of a music.
It is true that dark dubstep can be heard in a few tracks, but the entire record definitely goes beyond a “ghetto” of one music style. It also ranges from ambient landscapes, downtempo and broken beats to experimental electronic “solos". I would call the music of lukeing forward an intelligent electronica in its darker version. A very diverse and rich electronica actually.
Disturbing and unsettling music, in the positive meaning of the term, with wonderful, very appealing “aesthetics”. Ambient textures in the background, developing into spatial, electronic compositions, melodies floating through the air, leading the listener through dreamy landscapes, dark urban evenings scarcely illuminated by the dim yellow light from sodium street lamps. Maybe, it is a very subjective impression, but listening to this music evokes images of England from Victorian Era and Jack the Ripper stories on one hand, and American SF movies from the 50’s on the other. The titles of the tracks actually seem to support my perception – e.g. Insane Landing, Feel the motion of the Air. The music of lukeing forward would make a fantastic score for such dark SF or possibly horror movies, shot forty years ago :) From this point of view, this music slightly resembles the work of Norwegian Ugress – in particular ‘Saving the World's Weirdest Creature’ and ‘Soulless’. I love such retro cinematic trips.
In harder and more dynamic tracks (fantastic ‘Reverse the Order’), in particular in ‘Kept in unlocked prison’, apart from dubstep-wise, low-tone base, one hears the esthetics of Aphex Twin / Squarepusher, but definitely these are only inspirations and not imitations. In general, each music piece is very complex, a lot is going on. I presume that the author worked very hard to create this music, but definitely he should be fully satisfied, because he produced an outstanding and quite original work of art, very diverse and with high quality of production. One should not use such terms as “Yes, Poles also can!", because I believe that this record will easily defend itself across the world without such “support”. A pretty intelligent, mature and interesting music. I am really looking forward to hearing new work of lukeing forward in the future. The sooner the better.
And vocal in ‘Soulless’ simply smashed me! A music from some other, psychedelic dimension! I want more!
