A Baker's Dozen mid-tempo biznizzz

Back after much too short holidays and hungry for some heavy-bass beats. Mark Baker, a.k.a. A Baker's Dozen, hailing from Melbourne (AUS), serves exactly what I need this morning. Mid-tempo glitchy trips with infectious melody lines. I LIKE!

Tom Encore - Moral Panic! Mix

YES! Let's start another calendar year of DK's blogging with eclectic and ass-kicking mix Moral Panic! by Tom Encore, one of the best and versatile producers / DJ's on the dubstep / glitch / twisted 'wot u call it' scene in Poland. Just look at the tracklist, from B.Bravo and Dimlite thrugh Skrillex (!!) and Nero to Slugabed and NastyNasty. Ear candy par excellence. Great for boosting your mental skills at boring work.

SO UNDEAD! October 3rd Reichenbergerstr 28 Berlin @5PM

So Undead! is an exhibit about making connections between seemingly unrelated genres: Extreme Guitar Music ie. Punk, Metal and HC and the endless shades of Electronica. The art that will be shown at the event is wholly based on interviews conducted with artists, who in the past have dabbled in guitar distortion and are currently masters of the art of the synthetic. The interviewees include: Mary Anne Hobbs, Robot Koch (Jahcoozi)..., Cristian Vogel (Super Collider), T.Raumschmiere, Lars Kirchbach (Tolcha), Vladislav Delay, The Foreign Beggars, The Creep, Sneaky (Fingathing), The Bug etc. So Undead! is an exhibit about making connections between seemingly unrelated genres: Extreme Guitar Music ie. The interviews will be presented as a series of book panels designed and illustrated by 44flavours, Nathan Menglesis and Margarita Rojas, and a video installation prepared by director Pol Ponsarnau. Additionally Robot Koch, Cristian Vogel and Sneaky will be playing an eclectic mixture of Garage, Punk, Metal and Electronica.

The project was curated by Lukasz Polowczyk (a.k.a. RQM) & 44flavours

HELL YEAHH! What a crazy and interesting project. I wish I had a teleporting device. I would immediately go to Berlin next Monday, 3rd October to experience this one-of-the-kind event.
Coming from heavy metal / hc background myself I can only welcome this initiative with open mind and great expectations. Robot Koch, Cristian Vogel & Sneaky playing a mix of Garage, Punk, Metal & Electronica = PRICELESS :) Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Schedule of the Event:
5.30 - 6.30 Sneaky DJ set
6.30 - 7.30 Cristian Vogel DJ set
7.30 - 8.30 Robot Koch DJ set
8.30 Screening

On this occasion Robot Koch has prepared a really peculiar mixtape SO UNDEAD, a patchwork of death metal / thrash metal / grunge vs. electronica featuring, among others, my favorite heavy metal band - i.e. Anthrax (I've been endlessly teased by devouted Metallica fans for this), gurgling death metal band Morbid Angel as well as Distance or EPROM. Sounds .... strange to say the least :)
Arghhshshihowwheeeeeeereeeeeherhhre.

Tracklist:

1. anthrax - what doesnt lie
2. primus - my name is mud (eskmo remix)
3. morbid angel - rapture
4. distance - v11
5. nirvana - breed
6. eprom - pipe dream
7. shellac - copper

Kraddy - Black Box

New single Black Box by Kraddy, taken from his forthcoming album Anthems of the Hero (out on Oct. 10, 2011) is a superb wall of intense, smashing heavy bass and sick drums straight in your guts. Sometimes I really like being so mercilessly pulverized by my sound equipment :) Anxiously waiting for his full-lengh release.

POST NO. 666!!!! Up2d8 Festival.

YES! IT IS SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIXTH POST ON MY BLOG! HEIL ERIS!

I was thinking about some special satanic contents, but instead I chose to present a hellishly good promotional trailer of the forthcoming Up2d8 Festival which would take place next weekend in Białystok in North-Eastern part of Poland. If you are nearby I really encourage you to check it, you'll have a chance to see and listen to such heavy-bass champions as: Slugabed, CocoBryce, 16-Bit, Dubsknit & more or the champion of ambient sound Biosphere peforming live with his band plus sets by e.g. legendary Robert Hood or Scratch Perverts, many hip hop acts and local talents.

Now, let's move to the promotional trailer of Up2d8 Festival entitled "Something like that is possible only in Białystok". It is in Polish but the authors provided English subtitles, thus all international readers should also check this short film. It is definitely one of the best festival trailers I've seen ever. Enjoy.

DJ Pound - Robot Whispers (STRTEP006)

Another winner from Saturate! Records. !!! Robot Whispers by DJ Pound, hailing from San Diego, California, include a few short, but veeeery raw and heavy 'serenades' for pistons and cylinders, after listening to which most humans would run for cover :) Fortunately I love robots and though the artist presents merciless, inhumane approach to beatsmaking, exploring distant fringes of bass music, I definitely dig this slow-burning, straight-in-yer-guts sonic bombs. I grind my teeth, but after a few listenes I am totally captivated by heavy basslines and evenly distributed distortions. Well, after some time I even start feeling emotions ... Best glitch-hop (?) I've heard in a while for sure. It Takes Over, Try It or Lexfix should be dedicated to seekers of intelligent FILTH. Forget about all this shitty drilling dubstep copy-cat misery, you want a kick - let DJ Pound hit you hard and proper in an unique way.

WARNING: THIS MUSIC IS DESIGNED FOR GOOD SOUNDSYSTEM ONLY! DON'T TRY IT AT WORK ON YOUR MEASLY HEADPHONES OR, GOD FORBID, LAPTOP SPEAKERS.

Inaudible - Speakerface (Studio Mix)

Proper bass treat in a mix by UK-based producer Inaudible. One of the best mid-tempo / heavy bass / twisted beatz shit mix I've heard in a while. It is a collection of his own remixes and original tracks. His music just shows that - given an intelligent and skillful producer, who knows how to squeeze proper juice from his machines - the glitch hop with heavy basslines, occasional wobbles and serious distortions do not need to be a boring, repetitious, and straight dumb, filthy affair (like 80% of what is being released or pushed recently under dubstep / glitch-hop / heavy bass tags). No sarcasm intended, just a statement of fact. Unfortunately. Enjoy this mix, it will be a real pleasure for your ears.

Lazers & Neons & Mutant Beats

I feel like slaying a few throats with clean cutting lazers. There are so many dumb-ass targets around me I would have serious problems from whom I should start. Pakistani Starfleet Commando figthing Gigantic Dove Invaders are my heroes this week :). To do my job properly I need appropriate music score. Here is the selection of latest & gratest in neon lazers. Enjoy

HALP, hailing from the Netherlands, will soon release (23rd May Boomkat) a fantastic EP Gazzillian Yeers, where lazers par excellence meticulously spray the listeners and slow burning neon synths, 8-bit distortions and twisted melodies complete the act of destruction. Definitely one of the best releases in May!

Mochipet brings more super heavy lazers in his remix of Mike Jone's "My 64". Glitchy as shit mash up full of great samples (one you'd recognize immediately) and unique, one-of-a-kind Mochipet's slabs and drums of pure liquid bass. Quality as usual!

Finally ultra heavy lazers courtesy of Bart Tyrpien a.k.a. Bartlomein, He has just released his first EP with self-explaining title :) Let Lazers Guide You In.  A guy born in Poland who migrated some years ago to the USofA delivers 5 tracks with glitched to the max, pulsating basslines and nicely woven vocal samples, plus hard pads and drums - definitely the music which works best with big party soundsystems. Recommended!

2nd Annual Alchemeyez Visionary Art Congress (Hawaii, May 13 - 15)

The Earth Day - which by accident is also my Birthday :))) - is the great time to present news about amazing event taking place on one of the most beautiful islands of our Gaia - Hawaii.  The 2nd Annual Alchemeyez Visionary Art Congress will be held May 13-15 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. I have a kind request to scientists (not necessarily representing orthodox science) working on teleportation, please send me a prototype, any prototype, so that I can port myself to Hawaii in two weeks. This is the type of event one has to experience directly.

The event is a festival and conference uniting people from across the globe around the idea that visionary art forms can heal and strengthen the collective spirit of humanity. With well over two-dozen visionary artists and more than thirty-five musical acts, Alchemeyez promises to excite and inspire boundless creativity in those who attend.

The musical acts line-up is simply ridiculous and I would definitely like to meet the brother of the Magellan of Psychedlic Head Space, Terence McKenna and apocalyptic shaman Android Jones, and immerse myself into fantastic visionary art to the sound of my favorite bass music. Well, keep dreaming ...

A Baker's Dozen - Shedding Skin

The sun is shining the weather is beautiful and I feel like listening to some heaaaaaaavy bass. Here comes A Baker's Dozen, hailing from Melbourne Australia with his free EP Shedding Skin. Crispy clean, crunky, properly glitched basslines and stomping, chopped-up drumstep is what I need right now :) The best track on this EP - Non-Commital moves my body nicely and encourages me to do some office aerobics, effectively relaxing my neck and shoulder muscles. Listen to the preview below and cop the entire EP for free from A Baker's Dozen bandcamp.

Mixing Monday: Donky Pitch, Pixelord, + verb, Kuedo, Coco Bryce.

Last week brought a few interesting mixes and I decided to load them wholesale to my site. Hours of spacey synths, heavy bass and stomping beat in a mutant sauce of contemporary experimental electronica. Enjoy! (All tracklists after the jump at the bottom of the page).

Let's start the selection from the latest, super hot mix from the Lord of All Pixels i.e. Pixelord. In Big UP's podcast he offers top-notch selection featuring Alexey's own stuff and remixes, a great Zeppy Zep's remix of Spellbound by a Polish producer hailing from my hometown - Tom Encore plus huge Krampfhaft tune and f...g heavy lazers from Naive Machine and loads more. Definitely the mix not to be missed!

Big Up Podcast 44 - Pixelord

Donky Pitch has recently stormed the scene with their releases and this is another smashing radio show, featuring an exclusive mix from LA's Groundislava and a short mix by Ghost Mutt. The selection is eclectic as usual featuring tons of unreleased stuff from e.g. Slugabed, Jonwayne, Blue Daisy, Nasty Nasty, Nightwave, KRSUR, 813 and much more.
Just Groundislava's mix alone is worth downloading this 3-hour monster. He has recently dropped an amazing self-titled debut on Friends of Friends which is one of my favorite releases this year. Expect more words about this on DrKrank's blog soon. Preview and cop the album on boomkat

Donky Pitch - Hivemind vol. 7 f. Groundislava and Ghost Mutt

Now is the time for off-kilter synth bonanza courtesy of Skwee Master from Holland - Coco Bryce in a mix for glitch-hop.pl. Absolutely wicked stuff! No tracklist, unfortunately :(

GLITCH-HOP.PL_Podcast#07_by_COCO_BRYCE by Mash Machine

Slapping and cybarblapping mix from + verb, an artist consistently developing his own unique style full of heavy basslines and extensive melody lines, glitchy and touching at  the same time. I have been his fan for years, and as usual this guy never disappoints. This mix is the latest installment in his music career, offering a preview of several unreleased tracks. Expect big things coming from + verb on, among others Robox Neotech. And don't forget to invite him to a town near you for a sick lazer set. Return on Investment guaranteed!

+verb - Cyberblap2011 Sahn Mixtape by +verb

Kuedo a.k.a. Jamie Vex'd in a short mutant wonky mix with lots of twisted hip-hop beats and rhyming for Belgrade's Svetlana Industries. This is one of these artists whom I have followed since my early dubstep years and each of his 'faces', either as a part of Vex'd duo or solo as Jamie Vex'd or now Kuedo, is inspiring and interesting and shows great sensitivity and feeling of the urban electronic scene. I'm anxiously waiting for his new releases.

Bass Science - Slip N Side

A year after their previous release, Bass Science returns to Made In Glitch and again unleash loads of ill bass and stomping beat on the general public. Their EP Slip'n'Side featuring remixes by David Starfire and Mindelixir will be available on Addictech on 24th April. The title track is a clever bass-driven banger which does not attack the listener with glitched-to-the-max sonic assult but offers a sound story unfolding very nice from the first note. I'd really wish hearing more of this type of approch to production and composition building from the glitch hop / heavy bass/ dubstep camp. David Starfire's remix (f. I-Catching) of Mochipet's Godzilla New Year is still one of my favorite anthems, thus I am positive Slip'N'Slide's remix by them will be killing!! Pretty excited to hear the entire thing next week.

2.We Are You
3.Slip N Slide (David starfire ft. I-Catching remix)

Nasty shit is coming to terminal near you very soon (28 April on Addictech) Robox Neotech run by alien technology freaks from another galaxy will finally unveil their plan to terrorize and invade unsuspecting earthlings with brain-burning, balls-crushing heavy bass made by a guy who is at least twice as nasty as you or me. Let's Go Crazy (Samples Remix)

It's been quite a while since I posted music by one of my favorite glitch hop producers - Ben Samples from the Denver Bass Squadron. His gangsta bass-heavy and glitchy synth remix of Let's Go Crazy helped me boost my very low energey level on this f***g Wednesday morning at my desk in the corpo tower of polished steel processing tons of boring business mumbo-jumbo. I really prefer Samples's serious head-nodding biznis!!!!

Workers of the world unite! Download this tune, leave your cubicles and throw a party right now!

Turn On, Tune In, Drop out

I  am currently reading a fantastic book "Entangled" by Graham Hancock, a first fiction work by this controversial and daring explorer of archaic wisdom, hallucinogenic heritage and follower of numerous other paths of non-orthodox science (I highly recommend his opus magnum - Supernatural).  This post is dedicated to machine elves of supernatural dimensions and all adventurers hoping to encounter them during intensive psychedelic trips. Your time will come :)

I will not be very original and start my random selection from the track called D.M.T. by Tidus, an emcee and producer trying to convey dreamy, poetic message working with left-field, hip-hop, psych-rock, jazzy and many others music styles. Interesting.

TIDUS - D.M.T.

This one was taken from his full-length album, Absolute Elsewhere which is "a mind trip, one that you wont need entheogens to enjoy". Check this one out - a few really tasty bits for your mind to be found there.

One more tune from Tidus I like:

Tidus-Barrel by oktidus

18-year old Russian beatsmaker - Aleph in the best track of Haunt For Little Blind Fish EP released a few weeks ago on King Deluxe. I am more and more convinced that guys from Russia have some kind of top-secret facility hidden in Siberia where they were busily cooking and breeding super-talented producers for the last few years and recently started releasing them onto the general public to pursue some hidden and very very dangereous agenda :))

Aleph - Astyanax Mexicanus by king_deluxe

Next guy on my list iL from Illinois clearly went overboard many moons ago :) I am still trying to digest his off-kilter beat collages, expect more info on this blog about his latest debut apoLLo1ne3hree on Error Broadcast.

iL - For by Error Broadcast

... and now something completely different .... I fell in love with this tune instantly

EPROM - Pipe Dream EP (RWINA415)

Ultra Heavy Bass Champion - Eprom will drop in April another super bombastic and stomping release on RWINA, following his mighty Humanoid EP (Humanoid is still one of my top heavy bass anthems of all times). Pipe Dream, Chromium Decay, and The Symbiote are a rollercoaster of one-of-a-kind EPROM glitchy basslines rolling through the sonic landscape like a slow, but heavy armed, tank through the modern battlefield methodically clearing the terrain in front of it with mind-twisting stabs of pure digital fiiiiiiiiiiiireeeeeeee! I also have my favorite roller out of the three killing tracks. The Symbiote with its 21st century, twisted and distorted, robotic organs, could easily become a part of music score of some post-apocalyptic steam-punk thriller. Can't wait for this release. A must for any fan of straight-in-yer-face dancefloor smashers!

Listen to the preview and check the artwork, which is simply amazing!

As a preview listen to the nice mix by Psymbionic featuring the aforementioned tracks:

V/A - Mindelixir Presents: Repeat Business Mix (Mixed by Psymbionic) by 40 Hz Media

Mindelixir,  a dubstep producer representing ALR, Daly City Records, Velvet Elk Recordings, is back after the success of his first compilation for Abstract Logic Recordings, Music for Funerals and Banks, and he's packing serious heat the second time around. This 15 track release is a taste of the sound that's coming from some of the hardest working and innovative newcomers in the industry. While traveling the country on tour, Mindelixir found some of these amazing producers hiding in the depths of the underground. Expect to see these names doing repeat business with the industry in 2011, as their newest output hints at the future of electronic music.

Mindelixir, collected quite a motley crew of producers, many of them rather unknown to the general public, but showing quite a skills in their, mostly dubstep-driven productions. Though the entire comp goes beyond the simple dubstep 'ghetto' with some glitch hop and underground electronica at places. My favorite tunes are The Arcadian Shark by Fast Nasty, Zomba by Panther God, Not 2B Missed by T8rtot and finally - Starship Ping Pong  by Spooky Jones. The latter of the four is an absolute scorcher with its unnerving, repetitious and distorted basslines. The kind of tune I wish to hear more from dubstep camp.

Grab two tracks for free by the artists featuring in this compilation:

LoBounce - Keep Forgettin

Spooky Jones - Monday Morning
