Breezblock - Dubstep Warz 5 Years Anniversary

Oh boy, this was THE SHOW. If I am to mention one, single event/phenomenon that hooked me for years with dubstep, this must be the Breezblock Dubstep Warz, the fifth anniversary of which was on 11 January 2011. Yeah, five f...g years with ultra deep sub-bass, syncopated 140bmp beat, half-step, drum-step, grime, wobble and other mutations. And finally, the darkness on the dancefloor and fire in your limbs which you tried forcing to dance to this crazy rhythm. Praise be Mary Anne Hobbs for all the years of support and this particular cult broadcast. I am waiting for another one of such proportions in some other music genre. Nothing in sight yet, sadly. Enjoy the show (on mixcloud or download it via hotfile) - this music has not aged at all, at all!! .....

Magnetic Man - The Essential Mix

"Take evolution higher" from "The Bug" ( in my opinion the best track by the super trio of Magnetic Man = Skream + Artwork + Benga) perfectly summarizes the entire Magnetic Man ting and this absolutely essential Essential Mix. One can always complain about live mixing skills of Skream or Benga, about too-many sickly soft remixes done, and some other minor things, but the big picture is quite simply and obvious - Skream and Benga have been The Great Artists and they continue to be so, always exploring new territories and adding inspirational 'edge' to everything they do. The Magnetic Man project just proves this perfectly. Their Essential Mix is the best mix I've heard this year, without a doubt. Can't wait for their full length to drop at the beginning of October 2010. STOKED!

SKREAM - EUPHORIC 2STEP PROJECT

Well, well well. Skream is an artist who maybe sometimes tries to catch too many threads at once, producing much too many remixes but his new project of Future Garage / 2Step is really good! It's 2 step beat but with much deeper and heavier bass typical for dubstep. I really like the vibe and the space he creates! Sounds like a cross between Burial and Hyperdub wonky stuff but with a definite Skream trademark. I really really like the melodic side of this 2 tracks.

Skream - Calous

Rinse FM will celebrate its 15th Birthday on 31st of July 2009. Wow, quite an anniversary! As part of Rinse's birthday celebrations http://www.rinse.fm/ are releasing a download everyday counting down to the event. I have here a super dope dub from the CroyDon Skream called Calous and I f...g like what i hear in my headphones, I have to check this shit on proper sub-woofers back at home. Extremely bass-heavy, slow and soaked with proper bare-teeth digital liquidness will definitely smash (is smashing) a few dancefloors across the globe.

Hessle Audio at Fabric 15.05.09 + Ben UFO fabric live mix

I respect very much Hessle Audio as a label which brought a lot of creative and fresh air to dubstep scene. Ben UFO's label and the crew promoted many interesting artists and released a few music gems (TRG, Pangaea, Untold - anyone?). Although, in general I'm not a big fan of techno-oriented, no-woblle dubstep as such, but still would be stoked to see these guys playing next to each other. Well, again you lucky bastard Londoners will have a chance to see TRG, Ramadanman, Pangaea, Ben Ufo, Untold + MC ASBO playing room 3 in Fabric on this Friday 15 May 2009.

And if this is not enough Room 1 will host the performances by none others than Rusko (live - oh yes!! Rusko with a guitar), Skream and ... The Motherfu***g Gasslamp Killer. What a show!!!!!! I'm calling all the mad scientists again, please do not hide your inventions and discoveris in some murky basements or your heads, please send me a design for some working teleporter so I can catch all the parties starting from Canada through USA to Europe. Listening to music is one thing but feeling the trobbing sounds of heavy bassline cutting through your body is an absolutely different experience.

Ben UFO prepared a special live mix to promote the Fabric show. Grab it here:
