I've been listening to the Monkeytown LP by Modeselektor constantly for the last few days. Definitely one of the best, conscise and top-notch releases this year. Modeselektor just dropped another fine piece of music, a Carhartt Radio Modeselektor Tour Special featuring tracks by themselves and other artists from the Monkeytown and Fifty Weapons roster - e.g. eLan, phon.o, Dark Sky, Lazer Sword, Apparat, Siriusmo. Very nice showcase indeed!

The king of lazers n bass n bounce + verb has just released 2 synthetic goodies of impecabble production quality and crispy clean sound. His music output is so huge recently, I wonder when this guy sleeps? After very well received remix on the latest Starkey's EP - Space Traitor vol. 1, + verb does not stop and graces us with more of his famous beautiful distortions. And hey, in his case quantity comes with quality, which you can prove by listening to these two heavy-bass meditations with Problemz being my favorite.
You should also check a recent Xmas Mini Miz by +verb including his originals and two collaborations with Richard Sweat and Stephan Jacobs. Great soundtrack to an SF thriller: "Help! I've been abducted by vicious, robotic aliens who love to torture their victims with sick, devilish music" :)))
The "Labyrinth" EP by Kraddy is coming (Alpha Pup, Nov 8). Yep, finally! I have been waiting for this quite anxiously, not only to compare his new material to that of his former mates from The Glitch Mob, but to hear some extra bass heavy bombs which I'm sure will be there :) To sweeten up the waiting time for the release Kraddy prepared dirty'n'soul mix full of ill tunes. Highly recommended!

Friends of Friends label / portal / creative center attracting super talented beatmakers has just released a funkstatic, twisted, mutant beat mixtape by Don Leisure & Metabeats a.k.a. Darkhouse Family, the duo hailing from Cardiff (check their Family Trees EP released a few months ago on Fat City). Fat beats indeed all across the board with every single name and track in the selection fitting perfectly well, as a result creating an uniterrupted flow of head-nodding bliss with occasional taste of sick weirdness (like Slugabed vs. Eprom. Oh my oh my oh my!!) I f...g demand Eprom's Psycho to be released IMMEDIATELY! Great mix from the 1st to the last second, highly recommended by your humble Doktor!
NastyNasty is baaad, filthy and beautiful in this mind-twisting, bass-heavy way. I am his devoted fan and has never been disappointed with the quality of his music which combines robotic machines on one hand and a lot of deep feelings and emotions on the other. He has recently released an EP Puke Paint on FriteNiteshowcasing his absolutely unique mastering of distorted synths and ultra heavy basslines. The EP includes the track I fell in law from the first hearing, i.e. Toxenne. It is an absolute banger of enormous heat and the synths will burn big holes in your brain. Trust my werd! The rest of the material is equally good. One of the best releases this year without a doubt. I attach one free track for your listening pleasure.

The live edit of one of my staple openers. It's a lonely city we live in, so on the rare occasion that you meet someone worth spending time with, you'd better tell them. If you're bad with words like I am, this is how you tell them.
NastyNasty "Choker (Dub)"
I had the biggest crush on this girl. I actually told myself last February that I wouldn't date until 2010, but I broke down in December for her. The vocal snippets borrowed from Usher's "You Got it Bad" were synonymous with the sentiments I felt at the time.
NastyNasty "Melting You (Dub)"
It's really no wonder this track mixes so well with "Choker," as they're about the same girl. Once I finally had the nerve to tell her about my crush, I then began the process of breaking down all of our silly, guarded boundaries. "Melting You" is a song about breaking down little walls to see what lies beneath.
NastyNasty "No Names V.I.P. (Dub)"
After a year of playing the original a few times a week, I was bored with this one. After another six months, I was downright annoyed by it. Undoubtedly my most popular song to date, I knew it'd be cruel to eject it from the sets altogether, so I made this V.I.P. edit of "No Names" both to keep me interested and give the audience something special. Fun fact: "No Names" is about the furthest thing from a love song. The vocal samples were originally intended as painfully tongue-in-cheek. I was in the wake of one of my most painful breakups when writing the original, and I would have given the left side of my face just to speak to her again.
NastyNasty "West Coast Hardcore (Dub)"
I didn't grow up on electronic music by any means. I listened to a lot more Misfits and Black Flag than Stockhausen or Kraftwerk. I made a series of short tracks that took aesthetics from my roots in punk and applied them to bass music. I sort of took punk's minimalistic effectiveness and simple structure and wrapped loud bass and synthesizers around it. Due in no small part to its simplicity, this track has proven itself to be one of the most effective tracks in my repertoire. Almost instantly resonating with people, this one rips through dancefloors like a slithering cattle prod.
NastyNasty "DEAD STAR"
A good portion of the stars we see at night are, in fact, dead. They have actually been dead for hundreds of thousands of years, and their light is just now reaching us. Comparatively, a good portion of the stars we see on TMZ are dead. They have also been dead for years, and are simply hollow shells of former individuals kept inflated by teams of media moguls until they lose their tabloid usefulness. Deep shit, yo.
Nit GriT & NastyNasty "Say My Name (Dub)"
Both outsiders to the scene, more or less, Nit GriT and I frequently bounce ideas off of each other. When we finally sat down in the studio together, it was sheer mayhem. Like Rusko, Danny (a.k.a Nit GriT) has a flare for pairing melodies with aggressive dubstep sounds, so I knew when we sat down together we'd have quite a pairing on our hands. Also for the record, I totally love Destiny's Child. "I'm a survivor, I'm not gon' give up..."
The Knife "Behind the Bushes (NastyNasty Remix)"
When I first started NastyNasty, I did alot of mainstream rap and R&B remixes. I got to a point where I realized that, while it got me alot of attention early on, it would undoubtedly become a crutch, and if I wanted any sort of longevity in this game, I would need to stand on my own two legs. Having put a ban on doing full-fledged remixes of any mainstream rap or R&B, I now look to other sources when it comes time to pretty up my live sets or color a blog with a remix. The Knife is pretty much awesome. Initially, I was gearing up to remix "Heartbeats," but in all truth, I'd be hard pressed to make that song any better than it already is. "Behind the Bushes" (the closing number on The Knife's Deep Cuts album), however, struck me as the perfect number to re-appropriate and incorporate into my sound.
NastyNasty "Out Here (Dub)"
In the words of Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, "I am trying to break your heart." I'd say about 75 to 85 percent of the songs I make are about love or the lack thereof, and I feel like I'm failing if I don't rip your heart directly through your ears at some point during my set. One of the beautiful things about music is that it can make us feel less alone in our moments of darkness. I find most of my best music comes in times of loneliness because -- contrary to the definition of the term -- it is a universal feeling that we all take part in at some point; we are more or less unified as humans by the sense that we are alone in the world.

I'm not famous by any stretch of the imagination, but I have managed to make a bit of a name for myself in the last year or so. As my music travels, my name travels with it, and as my name travels, so does interest in the person behind the name. This is all kind of abrupt and a bit jarring for somebody like me, who is, by nature, a bit of a hermit. People want bios, pictures, stories, and gossip. All I want is a secluded space with some speakers and my laptop. There is a delicate dance going on between my actual person and my professional self.

NastyNasty "Perforate (Dub)"
[London-based electronic music label] Planet Mu contacted me about doing a release earlier this year, and, being the longtime Planet Mu fan that I am, I was ecstatic. I instantly sent them a catalog of what I considered to be my best work. [Label head] Mike Paradinas rejected a large body of my work, and encouraged me to keep sending tracks as I finished them so long as they were "in a different musical key." It was the first time I had been called out for my endless use of G minor, and I was a bit angry, to be quite honest. I made "Perforate" as a keyless track to transition between keys during my live set, as I set out to expand my key range, and also as a kind of abrasive 'Eff you, I can totally work in other keys, dude,' track. [It's a] mean little bugger to boot.
Starkey "Robot Hands (NastyNasty Remix)"
Starkey has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now, so when I was asked to do a remix for his release for Civil Music, I jumped on the opportunity. The original is quite a weird tune even by my standards, and if anything, my remix stands to normal it out a bit. Although, it's still rather leftfield.
"Take evolution higher" from "The Bug" ( in my opinion the best track by the super trio of Magnetic Man = Skream + Artwork + Benga) perfectly summarizes the entire Magnetic Man ting and this absolutely essential Essential Mix. One can always complain about live mixing skills of Skream or Benga, about too-many sickly soft remixes done, and some other minor things, but the big picture is quite simply and obvious - Skream and Benga have been The Great Artists and they continue to be so, always exploring new territories and adding inspirational 'edge' to everything they do. The Magnetic Man project just proves this perfectly. Their Essential Mix is the best mix I've heard this year, without a doubt. Can't wait for their full length to drop at the beginning of October 2010. STOKED!
I don't know how come I missed these two absolutely gorgeous, crazy and supa nitid works of mutant future beatz !?!? If not for a friend who directed me towards Donky Pitch soundcloud (gracias amigo!), I wouldn't catch these beasts alive.
Slugabed in his exclusive mix (sadly no tracklist) presents only his own beats and though I've heard most of them I could never get tired of super heavy and delicious sonic treat by IMHO the best producer currently working on the electronic music scene. Slugabed is the best I f...k the rest, he he.
Another super gifted beatmaker, Fulgeance, did equally fantastic mix for Donky Pitch, leaning more on the experimental beatz side than Sluga (e.g. Shlohmo, DZA, Ad Bourke, Mux Mool) but spicying this up with some electro frenzy flavor like in Lando Kal's anthem - Fuzzy Ankles. Download, don't sleep on this mix!
Super cool homies from BBQ crew (Wrocław, Poland), who in a very short time organized a series of events with stellar line-up, a few days ago released their best mix to-date. Bowly is a young producer from Montreal, Canada specializing in tropical bass, 2-step, urban funky and ghetto bass. Yes, his mix kicks ass big time and it's the hardest stuff - no offence boys :)) - from BBQ camp recently (ever?). His debut release will drop soon on Geiom's label Berkane Sol. The mix includes Bowly's original tracks from the forthcoming12", unreleased remixes (incl. Ilum Sphere's remix among others) and some hot anthems of this season, like 'Deeper' Venom & Damage or 'Different Lekstrix' Mr.Mageeka. Great summer club mix. Highly recommended!!
Vermin Street, one of the finest labels rocking Boston's electronic underground, which has already gained a horde of supporters throughout the worldwide heavy bass / glitch hop / experimental electronica community - - is celebrating its first birthday today (21 July 2010). I know, that nowadays it is super hard to follow all these labels and collectives releasing music over the Internet, and you can very easily be overwhelmed by the mediocrity, but trust me, Vermin Street delivers good, solid and quite diverse quality. Just check their two recent releases - Nintendont EP by Misk, with astounding remix by NastyNasty or Vermin VS Noah23 EP, with super ill glitch hop anthem by Mochipet in Epic SynthHop Mix. They were one of the first labels to release tracks by one of my top-5 producers atm on the distorted, heavy bass front, namely NastyNasty, which definitely helped to arouse my initial interest. Vermin Street claims to be on the forefront of releasing little known artists who are soon to blow up. Next to NastyNasty, Misk is definitely a producer which perfectly fits this definition. He first came to my attention in one of the best debuts of 2009 - Saturation and with Nintendont he has just proved to be a high-caliber player.
Another hot name to follow the tracks of the two aforementioned artists is definitely +Verb (check my post for his Slappity Blappity no. 6 mix). I have observed his music developement for some time and I am really impressed with the impecabble production quality of the tracks he has been releasing in the last few months. As a part of the birthday promo Vermin Street released +Verb's Why U So Gangstah (check other tracks in the pack on the label's soundcloud). Ladies and Gentlemen, please meet +Verb, the glitch hop gangsta no. 1 :)
You should definitely check other artists from the Vermin Street roster, like Vinyl Blight and Zebbler Encanti Experience, to get a full picture of the label which relies not only on whomp and stomp power bombs, but has much more to offer. Apart from releases, Vermin Street has rapidly become known for events which feature more than just the typical DJ + club scenario. Rocking custom-made deco, art installations and multi-media experiences, the label works hard to show off the rich and diverse talents of its community -and it hasn't gone unnoticed. Vermin Street brought a small fortune of the most inventive and explosive artists to Boston (many for their first time) including: Shpongle, Liquid Stranger; DFRNT; NastyNasty; Mochipet; Somatic Responses; Sickboy and Droon.
To celebrate 52 Events and 23 Releases (Heil Eris!) Cruncudelic glitchy step i.e. live set by Psymbionic at Wakarusa 2010. The listeners and dancers definitely had more an hour of great experience. I wish I was there :) Apart from being quite successfull producer and DJ, Psymbionic also runs a bass heavy blog - Bwomp Beats. Go check it!
Another hot live mix by Richard Sweat (representing one of the best - if not THE best - glitch hop crew out there: The BWOMP) from his performance at Dakota Lounge in Santa Monica. The name of EPROM's tune on the tracklist: Evil Shit describes pretty well what this mix is about. Lazer Sword, NastyNasty, Slugabed, Knight Riderz, Freddy Todd, Mochipet, S.P.E.C.T.R.E., Eprom, Kraddy - the real who is who in the word of dirty, glitchy future blap. This mix proves perfectly why I converted some time ago from pure dubstep to glitch-hop (whatever this term describes or not - but I hope you know what I mean). A role model mix of future EDM.

Glue Kids and RQM did a fantastic mix for French music site Jekyll & Hyde. So many great tracks squeezed into a 55 min. piece. Mount Kimbie, Breakage, Robot Koch, Starkey, Gonja Sufi, Illum Sphere, Boxcutter, Gill Scott Heron to name a few artists featured here. It would be a sin to miss this one and the God seems to be really pissed off recently sending the water in outragoues quantity on my poor country, I wouldn't dare to make him even more angry. Unique listening experience in hit parade mix. Highly recommended!

Then comes pumping, heavy and totally infectious dubstep / glitch hop mix from a Bay Area Producer Carly D aka AuDiosa. Her selection of tunes, mixing skills and great music sensitivity really strengthened my faith in dubstep as forward-looking music genre (which I have to admit has been faltering recently). The Glitch Report is a music show on KPFZ 88.1 FM Lake County Community Radio in Northern California. The show is run by a fanatic of bass-heavy sound, Seth Burns who plays off beat and thought provoking music which, as the name suggests, focuses on glitch hop, crunk, but also on dubstep, future garage and similar genres. The Glitch Report airs on Tusedays, 7 to 9pm and re-airs Saturdays at midnight.
If you are fond of lazer synths (well, Seth is a famous die-heard fan of Lazer Sword he he), and sick bowel-twisting bass and look for some new inspirations or want to check hips of unreleased tracks by the West Coast posse - you should definitely check the mixcloud site of The Glitch Report.
