Low End Theory Podcast Episode XVII

The mighty series of Low End Theory Podcasts is back with Episode XVII by Daddy Kev and Baths. Top-notch selection as usual with new super hot shit from Lazer Sword, Fulgeance, Robot Koch and others. EPROM's Psycho simply shattered all my senses, the filthest, illest synths in a galaxy!! What a tune! The Baths' mix is also great even though on a slightly different tip than the first part. All in all a MUST for any fan of new electronica!

Low End Theory Podcast - ep. XV - Gaslamp Killer vs. Lorn

Low End Theory Podcast - ep. XV - Gaslamp Killer vs. Lorn

Low End Theory founder and an icon of West Coast movement, Gaslamp Killer presents Episode XV of the outstanding podcast series, this time featuring himself and the ever-mysterious Lorn (in a much too-short mix). Expect the unexpected proves again to be the case in Gaslamp Killler's mix  -  a great selection of weired sound bites, where heavy sub-bass sits next to the funky trumpets to be followed by dreamy IDM trips and cinematic score! But honestly I was much more interested in Lorn's part, as I am his big fan since his Biggie's remixes and mesmerizing Grief Machine EP, but most of all after listening to Nothing Else - his debut full-length to drop in just a few days on the mighty FlyLo's Brainfeeder. This is the record of the year for me without a doubt, but you would be surprised if you expected only stuff from Nothing Else in Lorn's LET's mix :)  It's much more. Sick mix - just listen!

PS. Pre-order Lorn's album directly from him  to get a signed copy + other personalized goodies.

LOW END THEORY PODCAST E12 - D-STYLES vs. SHLOHMO

Episode 12 of the cult podcast series has arrived. This time, the LET's resident D-Styles in ear-to-ear battle with the rising star, the beatsmith of the future - Shlohmo. D-Styles drops a usual, eclectic collage of twisted hip-hop beats, some oldschool funky shit, dancehall riddims, lazers, bleeps, percussion solos, heavy bass, great film samples and much more. In his case, plenty equals quality :) Then Shlohmo steps up with a much too short piece of crazy beat surfing. Prepare for a pretty weird trip of cut up, distorted, delayed and mercilessly mutated sound samples which somehow add up to create at least a semblance of coherency. Creative chaos is a trademark of Shlohmo. Don't you even dare not to download this mix! The artwork is super dope, as usual :)

LOW END THEORY PODCAST - EPISODE 11 GASLAMP KILLER VS. KUTMAH

New podcast of the epic LET series ist da!! With one and only, Gaslamp Killer. Shit, I love the music aeasthetics of this m*****er. A patchworked, sonic trip full of weird, out-of-synch synths, crazy beats and out of space vocals. This eccentric combination has the force of pulling invisible strings attached to my innards not letting them rest even for a sec. Violins and clavichords, distorted guitars, wicked movie samples and heavy bass create a real Plunderphonic Orgy. One of the kind for real! L.A.’s own Kutmah is even more insane and intense. Angry rapping and sub-harmonic beats complement perfectly the Gaslamp Killer’s set bringing the podcast to yet another mother****g level.
COP IT COP IT COP IT!!!

LOW END THEORY PODCAST VOL.9 DADDY KEV vs. DIBIASE

Vol.9 of the epic podcast series from the best club out there, i.e. LA's Low End Theory has just arrived. QUALITY as usual. This time it is a double feature by the head of Alpha Pup Records and the resident of LET - Daddy Kev vs. quite a versatile producer of future, swinging 8-bit hip-hop beats Dibiase.

First, kudos to Daddy Kev for a super cool sample of Rorschach from The Watchmen and f...g brain-smashing Simon Says Remix by Pharoahe Monch (Get the Fuck UP!!!). Boy, this track moves my ass hard each time I hear it. Apart from that, in his much-too-short section Daddy Kev mixes quite an eclectic stuff, on a more bouncy and bass-heavy tip like a new crunky electro shit from Lazer Sword - Jet Black and a few bombs with ultra low dubstep sub-bass. I LIKE!

I have already wrote about Dibise on my blog. Some time ago he released a split 7'' with Low Limit from Lazer Sword. Read my review here. Dibise's short section in this podcast is really awesome! Crunked up and pulsating with crazy, cut-up beats and vocals, ranging from low-key 8-bit synth solos to hip hop, and tons of samples thrown in, this mix delivers a really unique listening experience. Cop it now!

LOW END THEORY PODCAST VOL. 8 - D-STYLES vs. GLITCH MOB

LOW END THEORY Episode 8: D-Styles and The Glitch Mob

Low End Theory released another big podcast. The legendary
D-styles, currently a resident DJ at Low End Theory club, active beatmaker for over 20 years, member of Beat Junkies and Invisibl Scratch Piklz, takes the listener for a trip through twisted, future hip hop and IDM landscapes. In the second part the super trio of Glitch Mob delivers bwampy beats and sick acapellas with infectious synths and basslines, guaranteeing a healthy portion of full-body fitness (limited to upper body parts when at work). You know you want this!

Low End Theory Podcast vol. 7 - Gaslamp Killer vs. Mary Anne Hobbs

Low End Theory can do no wrong in the podcast department. Vol. 7 in now-becoming cult series introduces a cross-Atlantic clash of uber personalities, namely the man behind Alpha Pup Records pushing the boundaries of glitched hip hop & electronic music, an icon of West Coast movement - the mighty Gaslamp Killer who meets the Lady in Dubz, one and only Mary Anne Hobbs who needs no introduction.

Episode 7: Mixes by Gaslamp Killer and Mary Anne Hobbs

THIS PODCAST IS EPIC!!!

Gaslamp Killer delivers a killing set of bass heavy, dubstep and glitch smashers like e.g. Joker and Ginz remix of Zero 7 , Eprom's Humanoid (my personal top-3 track this year) and many more but then merges them with some stuff (if I am not mistaken) off his EP released recently, thus creating dark dark dark mood. Scary and infectious as usual :)
Mary Anne Hobbs presents pretty experimental and eclectic and urban mini-mix, very 'planet-mu' oriented, which is no surrprise as on 8th September, MAH releases her third compilation "Wild Angels" (IMHO the best one to-date) and goes on a US tour. Stay tuned for the review and all the details within the next 2-3 days.

No tracklist as usual.

Low End Theory Podcast vol. 6 - Mono/Poly vs. Nobody

I can post Low End Theory Podcasts to my blog without first listening to them. I simply KNOW that my expectations will be fulfilled. This is exactly the case with installment no. 6 in this extremely original series pushing the boundaries of music experience further and further. Besides, I'm a big fan of West Coast sound and Mono/Poly is definitely one of the most interesting representatives of this 'movement'. His sound collages and solid beats are so diverse and fluid, full of glitches and distortions and he switches smoothly between whompy midtempo songs and bleeps and beeps of electronic improvisation and a bit suprisingly he started his set with properly heavy dubstep (I LIKE)!! An artist you should definitely check and momorize. Of course, Nobody's set is pure quality as usual ranging from glitch hop and heavy bass extravanganza to lazer synths, stomping drops and kicks to reach its port of destination in neon-light coolness. Well, let's not waste time on reading, just listen to this piece of wonderful music.
