I'm really proud we have such artists in Poland, producing top quality stuff and fully aware of the direction in which they want to develop their music. Since his debut album, Homeworkz (read my review here) Teielte has grown and matured beyond my expectations. Wooden Love includes six very solid, immaculately produced and fantastically arranged compositions. Every second is fully packed with tasty, vibrant sound, broken drums and highly addictive beat. The artist takes care of every detail, and what is a trademark of his style - pays great attention to all background samples, bleeps and beeps. There are no fillers here, just the essence of intelligent contemporary electronica. Synth-laden, neon Selcouth and banger par excellence Dont (a collaboration with Daniel Drumz another hot name from U Know Me roster) have already become major hits, while Tripf, Easy and Fire show the astonishing range of Teielte's inspirations and skills. Five originals are nicely supplemented by Liquid Molly's remix of Selcouth. A slow-burning dub trip which squeezes even more power from neon synths of the original. For me personally, Wooden Love is the best release this year (so far) not only in Poland but also across the world. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Planet Soap - Escape From Supernova 500 (Car Crash Set)

The Italian duo, Planet Soap returns to Car Crash Set with a new EP Escape From Supernova 500 to be released on June, 21st. The package includes two original tracks and three, quite diverse, remixes.

Supernova500 is an ambitious heavy-bass symphony with lots of distortions and very nice orchestration successfully painting extratterestial sonic landscapes. Escape from Supernova is a more up-tempo thing and I feel like attending a steam-punk party for decommissioned robots...   

My personal highlight of this EP, Bass Science's remix of Supernova 500 is a 'silly' wonky banger full of unnverving cosmic synths, broken voice samples and off-tempo drums in a kind of twisted - and kitschy - space drama. Not to be taken literally of course :)

Escape from Supernova refixed by the master of cyberblap + verb is a real orgy of neon synths slowly burning through your mind with a power of E-class planet destroyer.

96wrld hailing from Lithuania, in Space Invaders Remix goes totally off the hook playing with his 8-bit toys like crazy m***er.

I encourage you to check this EP when it is finally out. Kudos to Car Crash Set for consistently releasing quality stuff.

I always welcome new stuff by Starkey with great excitement and anticipation. Judging by the preview, his forthcoming "Space Traitor vol. 2" to be released in June on Civil Music will be huuuuuge. Master of heavy miasmatic bass'n'synths squeezes all juices out of his machines. The sound of e.g. "Street Rockers" simply kills and "Bricks ft. Curly Castro" is the best what street bass can offer. The remixes accompanying the originals (Monky, The Elementz, to name my favorite ones) create really explosive package. Excited!

From collaborations with Pixelord or Stephan Jacobs, through Car Crash Set and Mambo records releases (with new stuff coming soon on Vermin Street and Muti, plus Starkey's remix on Civil Music), this guy is simply unstoppable.Since the first time I've heard his music, +verb has been continuously delivering better and better tunes and his production progression curve is pretty steep and probably still far from its peak. If you are looking for smashing synths and deep groovey basslines, you will love the vibe of the latests offerings from Arizona :) Please has button work reminding me of a 21st century organist squeezing all the juice from his instrument in a possessed and maniac way. The synths are sooooooooooo mighty and huuuge! I'm a real sucker for this type of sound. Please is DA TUNE!

I've shamelessly nicked the great mix from perf10.net, it is a 14th installment in their great mix series (previously featuring e.g. + verb, pixelord, DZA, Coco Bryce), this time hosted by a German beatmaker known for his crazy beat mixtapes, Paul Pre. 78BPM Madness is way too good not to be shared. Just look at the tracklist, every single artist there is a genius of future electronic sound production, but it is the selector that put all these anthems together into one super electric collage of champion mutant beatz. One of the best mixes I've heard this year! Copy that shit and swag your head haaaaaaard, but please take care not to hit your office / home equipment, this could be detrimental to you health :)

On May 7th, my favorite beatmaker Robot Koch released Listen to them Fade EP (Project Mooncircle). One of the kind, vintage electronica, where dreamy female vocal meets strange sound samples, surfing through the multi-layered, moody compositions to the accompaniment of constantly tempo-changing breaks and totally sick drums and pads (Brujeria, Like Rain). This time analog and organic sounds seems to win the battle with machine keyboards and the result of their fight, the twisted, dark but very very lively beat and dubby vibe has connected with my emotions instantly! This is the record to be fully immersed into, rich with mind flavors and archaic, tribal goodness. As usual in case of innovative style of Robot Koch, this music is hard to describe and extremely versatile, but the artist managed perfectly to keep the entire 6-piece concise and complete. Though I can spot my personal highlights - Brujeria with oneiric singing by Grace and pulsating, dubby bassline which has been on a constant repeat in my player for a month or other-dimensional, trippy True riding on a squashed beat - this is the release to be digested in full from the first unsettling notes of the title track to the surreal sonic jam in Now. Listen to them Fade has been directly influenced by 2 months spent by Robot Koch in Mexico, where he collaborated again with a very talented Mexican singer Grace. I hope they will continue their successfull cooperation in a similarly inspiring environment and the results will be even more astonishing in the full-length album by Robot Koch to drop on Project Mooncircle in October this year.  Can't wait!!

OSCILLATIONS PT. 2 - (Slugabed, Alex B, Kidkanevil, Ghost and more)

The second part of a widely acclaimed compilation: Oscillations has arrived. Jus Like Music & Apple Juice Break present another set of 20 tracks of hard-to-describe music ranging from twisted hip-hop through glitch hop, wonky, electronica, dubstep to full-fledged beatz and tons of other styles in between.  As in the case of pt. 1 the opening track rocks like hell! I have nvever heard about XLII. He is a Ukrainian raised in UK and now living in Japan. His Roll Upon You Like XLII  moves with such an ease between dubstep subs, neon synths and raw hip-hop beat, like  the best tracks reaching my ears recently from the West Coast of US. Great banger for my car's sound system!! I want more, sir. Two heavy-weight champions of glitchy beats follow. Slugabed and Alex B need no introduction I hope :) Easily, two of the top-10 producers in my personal ranking at the moment. And you can grab their 320' tracks for free, praised be Jus Like Music crew.

However, the highlight of pt. 2 has been begotten in CIA by the London-based producer  Ghost (I highly recommend you grab a nice package of outstanding remixes from his website, incl. Foreign Beggars, Dabrye, Bonobo, Coldcut) who takes the listener for a voyage through dark sonic landscapes applying wide instrumentation and pulsing bass along the way. TIP! All in all this compilation is even better and more concise than Pt. 1. Other tunes I liked include: Kidkanevil, Suzi Analog, Constrobuz, Greymatter and Beatcasso. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Here we go boys and girls. Get ready for some serious heavy biznis delivered to you by a busy bee Bassnectar. He has just dropped another super sick EP of face-melting quality. You better check your amplifiiers and speakers for overload protection and warn your neighbors before previewing this stuff. As Lorin wrote on his site, the tracks on this release were inspired by a recent tour across the States. Here, one can definitely hear a very successful attempt of squeezing the sheer power and energy of big hall sound system - creating havoc on the dancefloor with timestretched build-ups and hard hitting drops riding on sick bassline, which is the trademark of Bassnectar stylee - into a digital or vinyl format to be played not only by DJ's in their sets but also at home or at work :) Of course the actual unmediated experience of going to the club to be destroyed into pieces by a big wall of heavy bass cannot compare to listening to this on any media, but ... I still expect to share a few nice jumpy and vibrating moments of serious bass pumping when playing Blast Off or Timestretch on my car's sound system with volume set a bit too high for an average listener. Ha, ha, ha this will be my personal revenge on all these wankers playing latest top-40 shit in their BMW's of SUV's. No matter how hard they pump the volume up, they will never be able to jam the heavy bass coming from my vehicle :)))

Bassnectar managed to release one of the best, most consistent and blasting EP's I've heard this year with 4 fantastic original compositions and 4 equally good remixes with top-notch production quality. Starting from a typical party smasher of Here We Go, with crunky and distorted bassline, a mandatory build-up and emcee instructing people to get ready to whatever sonic assult comes next, through pulsating wobbley extravaganza of a dubstep riddim in Bass Head to the highlight of the entire realease for me, that is Blast Off.  A collaborative effort of Bassnectar with a talented Jantsen from Colorado (I've heard tons of unreleased from Jantsen, and believe my werd - this boy knows how to twist the knobs and push various buttons) will simply blast your head off with sick and crunky, looped synths, infectious beat and a cut-up voice sample most of you will definitely recognize. Listening to this track makes me really sad when I realize how far from the epicenter of Bassnectar DJ'ing activity I live, the more so as he seems to tour only US forgetting about the rest of the world (yes, Mr. Lorin, it is a complaint from a European!). Timestretch is a full-fledged heavy bass meditation rolling through the speakers (or headphones) with a force of a 100-ton tank, crushing everything on its way, but gushing with emotions nonetheless. Then comes a nice little remix of DJ Vadim's Maximum feat. La Methode by Bassnectar and ill.Gates.  Great head-nodding business and dancehall riddim relying on a sparkling bass.  Westcoast Lo-Fi Remix of Timestretch is even more epic and spacey than the original, best remix in the pack for sure. Finally, two low sub killers in filthy dubstep remixes of Bass Head. SPL turned the original into dark and crunky wobbley affair which, when reinforced by Funktion One type of sound system, would easily rip open the chests of dancers or at least have a serious impact on the integrity of the venue's walls. This tune gives me real shivers! MRK 1 remix is also a wobble business but with more crispy clean bassline. All in all, Timestretch a must for any fan of sick subs and whompy bass. Highly recommended!

 Tons of good music flying from every direction recently and I barely manage to post 1/10th on my blog due to serious time constraints, work overload, kids caring and hundreds of other distractions :) However, some stuff simply needs to be mentioned at least in passing. New EP by De Novo Creation, a homie from GlitchHop Forum hailing from Bloomington (US), should definitely be saved from  a pitiless void on my hard drive, external drives or pendrives, where more and more music lands :(  

The Inside EP includes 3 original tracks and 2 great remixes. Don't sleep on this free release. It's crunky and glitchy, but much less whompy than one usually associates with this type of productions. Echoes, delays, spacey melodies, sick, twisted and convoluted bass and unsettling synths dominate the sonic landscape of De Novo Creation's progeny.  Rebirth dub based on repetitious beat, and industrial 'ferrous' bassline is a seriously crunked out starter  to the main treat and a course of two desserts.The title track, The Inside is a slowly burning stepper with sick, wobbley drops and uplifting synths in a kind of mixture of Heyoka's tribal gathering and PANTyRAiD's talking bassline. When I first heard this tune I wanted immediately to take my car and drive to some open-air festival. Then I realized I live in Poland and here such an event means shitty pseudo-indie rock bands, long-forgotten electronic oldies like Prodigy (totally weak show last year) or - God have mercy - repetitious and boooooooooooring DnB.

Then come remixes. Verb + adds more electricity to The Inside, stomping like crazy with metalic yah-yah wobble. Serious treatment, I like!! Plus 2 indeed 'hyperglitched' the title track, upping up tempo and embedding some serious distortions, sick kicks, pads and lazers along the way. The whole thing vibrates in a super funky flavor, definitely a track to be rinsed by DJ's! Another great stuff I've heard recently from Plus 2 - this cat is on the rise :) For me - highlight of the entire pack. 

De Novo Creation will soon drop a remix of the Skwee track This thing is on by Stickem - one of the first Skwee producers and promoters in USA. Watch out for this!
