Sector7G - Streets Ahead mix for TFM

I'm going for holidays proper next week. Guaranteed sun, trekking in the mountains, sea swimming, drinks by the pool and doing nothing :)))) The blog goes into hiatus till the end of August. Before I go I would like to share with you my personal best mix this summer. Streets Ahead mix has been prepared by Sector 7G, hailing from Athens, Ohio, for The Find Magazine. I really dig this guy's musical taste and selection, if you follow my blog you know this is not the first feature about hime. You'll find all the usual suspects of the electronic scene here. Grab this fantastic collage of future beatz and enjoy the neon sunny ride.

[G5003] Damscray - Blot Method EP by G5 Music

DOKTOR KRANK'S RELEASE OF THE MONTH - 9 out of 10***

Damscray (Albert Khasanov) from Russian Super Bass Duo, Demokracy, has just released his solo work - Blot Method EP. Another sure winner from Siberian Label, G5 Music, distributed worldwide by Alpha Pup. If I am to describe this versatile release in one sentence, I'd say this is oriental music produced by a modern shaman for all mechanical beings. I read a lot of SF stuff and I can easily imagine this music as a perfect score to stories about intelligent AI's in post-human starfaring reality. This is as soulless, cold and nerdy as electronic music can ever be, yet full of 'emotions' but of more teethgritting, aggressive and synthetic type. Which I really like! All humans are indeed robots but built with organic matter :) As a matter of fact, most humans live their entire lives in robotic stupor, fed with media celebrity pulp, never stepping out of their reality tunnels manufactured by the Mainstream Totality. Unfortunately, most of such robots will never hear this stuff, which is a real shame.

The beginning and closing tracks staple together four hard, raw and veeeeery digital tunes thrown by Damscray at listeners with enormous and totally consistent power. "Sandworm" makes a beautiful oriental introduction to mechanical heaviness. "Blot Method" and "Headplate" are amazing symphonies of silly hydraulic pistons & gears, with unnverving synths and distorted basslines which any robot would simply love at first hearing. Steampunk par excellence! A f***k anthem and my personal highlight, "Bug Detector" will not only detect all bugs in your sytem but will definitely teach them how to dance, whereas "One Finger Punch" will punch holes in your mind with every drop and ass-kicking drums.  All ending in a kind of bass-heavy anti-climax in "The Rhythm Room". I strongly recommend Blot Method EP. Don't sleep on this people, one of the best releases this year.

Buy it on Boomkat and at other sellers in the interweb.

Eliot Lipp - Mux Mool and Big Gigantic remixes (Brolab Remix Album)

"Mux and I have worked on plenty of tracks in the past and done a huge tour together. Our styles are similar, but I appreciated how he took this song in a totally different direction"

"I was stoked to collaborate with Big Gigantic. I've been a fan of their music for a couple of years but most of all they're just good dudes. Dom and I finished this remix via video chat just minutes before I sent it to the mastering studio"

On 20 April 2011, Eliot Lipp, a producer hailing from Brooklyn, NYC, will release a free remix album "Brolabs" on Old Tacoma Records. Grab two fantastic remixes by Mux Mool and Big Gigantic. In particular, the Mux Mool's take on "The Outside" is a laidback hazy roller with sick sick neon synths. Highly recommended! Can't wait to hear the entire album!

Jeremiah Jae - Rappayamatantra EP (Brainfeeder)

JEREMIAH JAE
RAPPAYAMATANTRA EP (Brainfeeder)
Release Date: March 22, 2011

1. The Dirty Collector Pt. 1
2. Kings Bop
3. Guns Go Off (Remix)
4. $easons
5. Raw Tape$
6. Vertical Pupils
7. Stones Passage
8. Glitter Kit

Once in a while I come across the stuff escaping all classifications, hard-to-digest, demanding but delivering quite a unique experience. But it is exceptionally hard to write a few critical sentences about the actual 'songs' I heard in this parituclar case. Rappayamatantra EP, to be dropped March, 22 on the Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label is the debut (if one does not count self-released Dxcne EP which not many people had a chance to listen to probably) by Jeremiah Jae, 21-year old producer and rapper from Chicago whose speciality seems to be serious beatscooking. Yes, his music is cooky, avantgarde, lo-fi trip in the best tradition of plunderphonics (in particular in tracks like The Dirty Collector pt. 1 reminding me of the works of champions of this sound - Negativeland). A patchowork of fantastic strange samples, off-the-beat, mutant hip-hop sonic textures with weird rhyming and vocalizations, experimental jazz improvisations overstretched beyond any limits, synthetizers playing creepy melodies, often mutating into spastic chaos or downright silly rhymes. Actualy, well-controlled chaos rules the music work of Jeremiah Jae, and though this type of experimental, sample based, cut-up approach to production process is nothing exceptional or new, this guy - while drawing inspiration from so many sources - has a rare ability of putting all these pieces into one nearly coherent whole. I really admire his bravery thanks to which he has created a very personal work of art which he nonetheless shares very willingly with the listeneres delivering quite a unique experience. My personal highlights of this EP incl. Seasons and Raw Tapes - probably most accessible and traditional tracks in the set plus totally off-kilter Glitter Kit. This is not an easy music, you would not dance your ass  off to the beat, definitely you would not be able to chill out he he, but I encourage you to give it a try. Such an impressive music erudition at such a young age does not surprise if one learns that his father was a musical director for Miles Davis in the late years of Davis's career and his mother sang gospel. Later this year, Brainfeeder will release Jeremiah Jae's full length Raw Money Raps and I will be eagerly awaiting more weird stuff from this cooky wizardy
Jeremiah Jae visited Poland a few days ago playing together with another heavy weight beatsmith from Brainfeeder roster - Teebs. I couldn't make it (I really really wish I was there) and I believe he gave one-of-the-kind performance...

Demokracy - Double Star EP

A few weeks ago, I already wrote a short review of the absolutely smashing new Double Star EP by Demokracy from Siberia (Russia). But, as the release drops today exclusively on Beatport. (8th of March in the rest of the virtuality), and I would really really like you to check this ultra contemporary music, hear me once more and check these beautiful and kinky beats and twisted synth extravaganza. Woth every penny!

Demokracy - Double Star Ep - Rbxep20 by Robox Neotech

The title track Double Star is the essence of Demokracy for me, showing their trademark, fluid and 'talking' synths and great rhytmic sections with analog drums and pads! And the melody! Well, they know how to tell 'stories' with their music, how to build full-fledged compositions or cut voice samples. The music you will never be bored with, eclectic, following its own path and what is equally important - with serious banger potential. When I listen to Demokracy in my car I nod and swerve my head like crazy ha ha. Double Star also features the mighty Searchlight which was in top-5 of my tracks in 2010, but this time with added great vocals by Didjelirium (whom you might remember from collaborations with Doshy). WOW! And I thought this tune could not have been better. There is also another, fat, dark and enchanting roller I heard before - Zeroth Law. I simply love these synths, smacking you across the ears with raw power, yet at the same time spreading strange warmth on your synapses. Fuck, I know I am starting to sound bombastic but this is how I respond and evaluate this type of music - on a visceral rather than cerebral level. Deadhead shows the most Skwee face of Demokracy with a totally amazing intro and siiiiiiiiiiick drops. I don't know what are their drinking or eating habits over there in Siberia, but I want the same. Pronto! Then, the artists take the listeners to the Zone full of 8-bit bleeps, crazy button improvisations, cut-up voice samples and drilling bass in a kind of broken beat frenzy. Voight Kampff is a pure mechanical beauty and the beast, lots of spacey synths and ultra heavy bass - the Daft Punk of the future. Awesome!

Double Star EP is the type of contemporary, mutant electronic music I wish to hear more in 2011. Don't sleep on Demokracy peeps. The new star is being born ... What is more, this will be followed by Double Star EP Remixes, incl. rmxes by Zet., Coco Bryce, Bass Science, Montgomery Clunk, Doshy, Stagga and more. Can't wait! .

New beats new kicks (U Know Me, ptr1, pixelord, robot koch, schlachthofbronx)

Corporation is squeezing the last juices from me, my blog suffers, but I shall never surrender he he he. I present a few tunes worth checking out of the mass of music that accumulated over the last few weeks. I would like to apologize to all the great artists and promoters out there sending their stuff to me but the time is a scarce commodity in Dr Krank's mansion recently. Trust me, I hear ya and I hear your stuff. Keep up the good work guys  - I love you! (Dr Krank's waving a hand in late Michael Jackson's manner).

I am really proud to post a couple of tunes coming from Poland. U Know Me Records, a new sibling labal of JuNouMi Rec (releasing polish hip-hop since 2002) is definitely at the forefront of new beatz movement made in Poland right now. After a fantastic release of Teielte's Homeworkz (read my review here) and an interesting LP Digital Gaden by Kixnare last year, they have new tunes in the pipeline.

The first release from U Know Me in 2011 is a laidback, jazzy and twisted funky stuff from Daniel Drumz available on 10" vinyl or in digital format (e.g. on Juno) Here is the preview of the title track "Lay Low On The Treble" reminding me of the music released on Tokyo Dawn Records. Really good quality and nice work Daniel!

Daniel Drumz - Lay Low On The Treble [UKM 003] by U Know Me Records

The next release on this label will be even better!! Let me take you for an absolutely mesmerizing and enchanting trip with Lower Entrance featuring oneiric vocals of Natalia Grosiak. This tune made my day and really helped to drop out at least for a few minutes. Longish intro leads to the great, trippy beat with a nice use of delays and Natalia singing in a manner of Oriental divas. She bought me instantly.Unknown Variation is the first single from forthcoming Lower Entrance's EP [UKM 004]. Can't wait to hear the rest of the stuff.

Lower Entrance feat. Natalia Grosiak - Unknown Variation [UKM 004] by U Know Me Records

ptr1 from Płock (Poland) released one of the best EP's of 2010 (Above the Structures), and his Cold has been haunting me for months. His new tune Warmth posted to soundcloud is equally good. ptr1 again creates the moody sonic excursion into the barren land. Beautiful!

ptr1 - warmth by ptr1

Robot Koch is a great producer but equally good remixer. What he did to Kraddy's  Let Go, as a part of the Labirynth Remix Project , is simply 'osom!! Lush vocals of Juice Aleem and Justice and heavy bass, dubby beat make this tune an instant crowd-pleaser. I wish I was now at the dancefloor in some club with sweaty bodies dancing and jumping around me to this groovy robotic rhythm. TIP!

Let Go (Robot Koch Remix) by KRADDY

More twisted stuff from Pixelord, a free download of Tropical VIP refix of his Fish Touch from the recent EP on Error Broadcast,  also posted on xlr8r site yesterday. Properly UK basssed tune. I LIKE!

Fish touch (tropical vip) FREE download by pixelord

Finally, the carnival butchers from Bavaria, Schlachthofbrox, in a preview of their forthcoming Nasty Bass EP dropping 15 Feb on Mad Decent. Ghetto Bass mixed with Cumbia, occasionally going into the extremes of Juke House frenzy. I love these crazy bassterds.

Sector 7g - 2010 Bleep Mix

2010 was absolutely awesome music-wise. Heavy bass, wonky, mutant future beatz and every f..g genre squeezed in between erupted into eclectic and very fresh neon frenzy which many times left my jaw opened low low low. Just check this fantastic mix by Sector 7g hailing from Athens, Ohio, to catch the great vibe of past year in a super tight selection including 99% of my favorite artistis. We have nearly identical music taste Mr. Sector 7g! West Coast - eg. Teebs, Nosaj Thing, Jon Wayne, Lorn, Gaslamp Killer, Gonjasufi meets thriving UK scene represented by - e.g. Slugabed, Loops Haunt, Redinho or Rudi Zygadlo and Continential Europe champions of synthetic improvisations , like Demokracy, Robot Koch, Doshy, DZA or Slow Hand Mothem. Plus Tokimonsta, Dimlite, Letherette, Shigeto and tons of other big names. This is a hit parade. Don't sleep on this mix. A super concise look at the best (if niche) music world of 2010.

Krampfhaft - Brightly Colored Candy Teardrops EP (Saturate Records)

DOKTOR KRANK'S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED RELEASE!

A new label on the neon, mutant beat scene Saturate Records, has just dropped its first release. Krampfhaft is a producer from Utrecht, Netherlands and his Brightly Colored Candy Teardrops EP is - to borrow a title of one of the tracks - "Pure Fucking Diamonds"!!! Add Coco Bryce and Pixelord as remixers (next to heRobust and Roel Funcken), and you know you want a closer peek at this release. Trust my werd - you'll not be disappointed. In particular Take Me Under - deep, beautiful, eerie soundscape with fantastic neon synths and talking beat. One of the best tunes I've heard this year! The title track is another example of the new wave of beatmaking by the young artists on the scene - reminding me of Error Braoadcast artists (in particular Montgomery Clunk) and the Russian beat squad e.g. Damscray, Demokracy or Moar Pillar. I must say I really dig and heartily accept the direction they follow. Lots of great, eclectic, fresh stuff coming from them all the time. The rest of the release is equally tasty and out of the remixes, I liked most the Pixelord's twisted future garage meets chip tunes refix (this guy knows how to improvise with his gear) and heRobust's blipping, spacey and a-synchronous beats.

Visit Saturate Records bandcamp to grab the release.

One tune is available for free from bandcamp and actually it is my personal fave of the EP :)

Doshy - Scatter remixes EP (Robox Neotech)

Doshy - Scatter Remixes EP (Robox Neotech)
Release date: 7.12.2010

Doshy - Scatter Remixes EP is a perfect, versatile and powerful release
10 out of 10*** in Doktor Krank's personal ranking!

Robox Neotech is THE LABEL OF THE FUTURE. Trust my werd! Music they serve is soooo refreshing, mind-boggling, full of this kinky, bleepy, twisted lazers and sick beats, dipped in hard to describe RAW, post-industrial spices.  Future beats attacking the listener with full force, engaging all your senses and making your wetware circuitry go high high high with liquid, digital emotions. Just listen to the latest offering from Robox Neotech - Scatter Remixes EP. I liked the the original EP  by Doshy a lot, but these remixes really made my jaw drop low low low.

Super talented beatmakers from across the world, some of whom I have covered recently on my blog - including Rudi Zygadlo, Pixelord, Lakritze, Democracy,Halp & Coco Bryce, Monky, P45, Zeno and Doshy himself plus the rest of the robot gang (new to me), delivered a bass-heavy, lazerized, neon-synth bomb glittering with bold, fantastic ideas built on a stomping, ass-twisting beatz.

There is not a single weak track on this release, but at least a few masterpieces like Sunset's remix by Democracy which was the love from the first hearing a few weeks ago, it has probably the best synths I've heard this year. For real - just listen to them - it's a work of art! I want moar Democracy :) Halp & Coco Bryce brought the title track Scatter to yet another level of electro frenzy. Oh boy, they know how to handle their gear. Rudi Zygadlo's improvisations and vocal samples in Space Attack are top-class. Curtamos refixed Chip into slow-burning sub-bass monster, while Pixelord treated the same track with even more 8-bit chipness and great, overwhelming synths. Tip! Monky in his spacey remix and Zeno in a more drilling, angry rework of Chip did equally good job. Lakritze in his Battleship remix glitched up and slowed down the Space Attack to the max creating a brutal soundtrack to your worst nightmares. VIP version of Space Attack is simply amazing and in the package you will also get a few Doshy's collaborative tracks with a duo of French producers Esia (who is singing on Side on Music and Take Me) and Didjelirium. All proper quality again.

Robot Neotech with this release catapulted itself very high on my personal list of best labals out there. These dudes share like 99,99% of music taste with me!
Robox Neotech were kind enough to drop a few high quality tunes from this EP to be posted on my blog for you to download and f***g destoy your neighbors with this sound of the future.

Montgomery Clunk - Entourage (B-Ju Remix)

I'm deep in the shitty corporate human abuse, trying to squeeze 3-day work into one day with my brain circuitry close to overload, but thanks God I have daily delivery of fresh tunnage. Next Monday, Nov. 15th, Error Broadcast will release a debut Superbus EP by a very talented beatsmaker from Romania  - Montgomery Clunk. I expect a lot of goodnes from this release and can't wait to hear all the 7 tracks. For a time being, grab a laidback, neon remix of Montgomery Clunk's Entourage by another great new producer from Error Broadcast roster - B-Ju.

Coco Bryce - Kibra Hacha (forthcoming Poisonous Gasses)

Coco Bryce hits hard in his new track forthcoming on Poisonous Gasses as a part of Skwee Cruise compilation (drops at the beginning of December). Ultra heavy slabs of cold, wonky skwee synths are doing real damage in my earphones right now. This track is on a constant rewind this morning!

As a bonus to this mighty track, listen to the teaser of new Chocolate Money EP, by the UK's beatsmaker - Kelpe, featuring Coco Bryce remix on the flip side. To be released on the Dutch Label - Fremdtunes on 22 November.

Kraddy - Dirty Got Soul Mix

The "Labyrinth" EP by Kraddy is coming (Alpha Pup, Nov 8). Yep, finally! I have been waiting for this quite anxiously, not only to compare his new material to that of his former mates from The Glitch Mob, but to hear some extra bass heavy bombs which I'm sure will be there :) To sweeten up the waiting time for the release Kraddy prepared dirty'n'soul mix full of ill tunes. Highly recommended!

The word from the man himself: I put together something heavy and soulful for you. A few choice tracks from some of my favorite artists. Every track in this mix is a standout to me. These are tracks that aren’t afraid to get grimey with it – tracks that push the envelope and do it with style. Turn it on and turn it up. And don’t be afraid to get dirty, cause dirty got soul.

Montgomery Clunk - HEAT (Error Broadcast forthcoming release)

Error Broadcast can do no wrong. Seriously, for me this is definitely one of the best, most forward-looking, eclectic and fresh labels on the future mutant beat / neon front. They have found another, absolutely amazing 22-year old youngster. Again! His name is Montgomery Clunk, and he hails from Bucharest, Romania in Eastern Euroope. The first track I've heard from him - You Neon Night - was great but Heat from the forthcoming debut Superb EP on Error Broadcast (14th Nov - can't wait!!) - literally blew my mind off.  Just listen to these synths - it's a work of ART. This boy will be huuuge.

Oh my oh my oh my!!) I f...g demand Eprom's Psycho to be released IMMEDIATELY! Great mix from the 1st to the last second, highly recommended by your humble Doktor!

Lazer Sword - Batman EP

Lazer Sword - Batman EP (vinyl and digital)

Tracklist:

1. Batman
2. Batman (Lando Kal Remix)
3. Batman (Nguzunguzu Remix)
4. I’m Gone (Low Limit Remix)
5. I’m Gone (Rustie Remix)
6. I’m Gone ft. Turf Talk

Highly Recommended by Doktor Krank - 8 out of 10***

Lazer Sword is exploring new paths of vibrant, mutant beatz in their Batman EP which is a first step to their final release of full-length debut LP on November, 2nd. I'm grinding my teeth in high anticipation of the sonic boom the super combo will unleash on the public! I have been Lando Kal's and Low Limit's fan for years and during that time the way in which they developed their style, their extra-polished technical skills, their mutual complementarity and eclectic approach to music are simply astonishing. When playing live, either solo or as a duo, they will force everyone to heavy bounce with natural ease through their top selection and MPD wizardry. Give'em a venue, any venue, and they will easily rip it apart :) I lived through such experience during the best gig of my life here in Poland, so trust my werd! Yet, as comes to the music they produce, it is always much much more than simple stomp, bounce, push & kick. Their production skills are impeccable and they are always on a lookout for some fresh, inspiring music patterns which can be squeezed from their fancy machines, while being very open to what is happening on the global electronic scene. Yeah, they have outgrown their pure-American heritage long time ago, and now seem to be more interested in electro / mutant / UK / urban sound. With fantastic effect to say the least.

I wrote about the title track Batman on my blog already, so not to repeat myself I copy & paste my comment: "Batman is a bit different from the usual high-energy electro output of Low Limit and Lando Kal, yet it definitely bears the trademarks of their style - tons of cut-up samples, mutated vocals, cold synths and very distinct micro-beat plus wonky bassline. One can definitely hear further move towards the Europe / UK urban scene (well, to be honest the boyz has followed this direction in their releases for some time already) and Batman easily fits the Glasgow's Numbers profile (what is obvious) as well as L-vis 1990's Night Slugs or some other UK G / future garage imprints"

Apart from Batman, A-side includes two fantastic remixes by Lando Kal and Nguzunguzu. Lando Kal remade the title track into slow burning synth-driven roller, while Nguzunguzu created a great, minimalistic banger with neon synths, fantastic drums, sick button job and distinctive melody line. For me personally - the highlight of this release!  A flip side, or should I write A' side, includes an electro glitch-hop anthem I'm Gone featuring the vocals by bay-area hood-rapper Turf Talk. My car's sound system can't have enough of this track and makes me bounce pretty hard, which would be rather hazardous if not for a high roof in my car :)) Low Limit's remix of I'm Gone is a laidback affair with beutiful synths and spacey loops, while Rustie went into a different direction delivering an angry and raw bombastic dancefloor banger to be digested on proper subs with kilos of Watts. In general, one of the most interesting and inspiring releases this year. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!

Lazer Sword - 808 Mixtape

Oh boy, what a day! First NastyNasty, then Eprom and now super dope combo of soundmasters from Lazer Sword (Lando Kal vs. Low Limit) in 808 Mixtape for International Tapes!! My player barely survives the total sonic assault I am feeding into it since early morning, but my ears feel extremely gratified. 808 mix is a bit different offering than the two previous heavy-bass artists featured on my blog, and also slightly different than the usual Lazer Sword sound explorations. The name of the mix, a kind of tribute to the immortal 808 machine, is self-explanatory, but Lazer Sword playing Kudoru ?!? Well, that's surprising. Anyway, there is no other 'group' which can so successfully mix oldschool funky vibe (and tools) with extremely nu-school, ass-kicking, mind twisting, head-nodding electro/nica. LL and LK are well known for breaking genres and styles and mashing everything into one big synth-driven electro funky pulp, and this mix is the proof of their epic skills in this area. Lazer Sword for POPE!

EPROM - RobotSexTape

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !! This is the shit I've been waiting to put my ears on! EPROM finally drops his mixtape which you can download from his bandcamp. His legendary 2009 Mixtape has been on constant rewind in my soundystem for months. RobotSexTape will follow the same path, I'm sure. It is sickness all across the beats, bleeps, pieces and sick basslines. EPROM rulez. No tracklist yet. Peeps in Europe beware - in September EPROM will (or already invaded) a city near you - definitely Manchester, Amsterdam and some more. Sadly, not a city near me :(

Maceo Wyro f. Sebol - Kosmos vol. 27 Radio Roxy

One of the most eclectic Polish Dj's and radio hosts active on the scene for decades now - Maceo Wyro is a host of a radio show in Radio Roxy called Kosmos.  Here is vol.27 of his musical trip as recorded on 18 Sept 2010. Maceo Wyro, associated with hop hop scene for years, runs the best radio show for new mutant, post hip hop beatz in Poland. Just look at the tracklist, starting from the f...g amazing tune by a Russian Moa Pillar from the recent Error Broadcast comp, through Japanese heavy beat offering of RLP, and superb beatmakers like Dibiase, Starkey, Maddslinky, Nosaj Thing or Swede:Art. The top selection totally in line with my music taste! Enough said, this very podcast made me buy a few new tracks, which does not happen very often :) His show last Saturday featured Sebol, a hip-hop promoter, blog writer, journalist from Poznań who dropped more funky and straight hip hop joints along with some dubstep (Ramadamman) and more twisted glitchy electronica (Robot Koch, Dabrye). All in all the best beatz to be heard on the Polish radio airwaves atm. Beware: radio host and guests speak Polish which can be fun for all you international listeners (I hope :) ) Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!
