Robox Neotech Releases: P-Fang, + Verb, Planet Terror, free downloads

Robox Neotech has been a constant vendor of top-notch future robotic beats full of dark, deep and heavy artificial life. Here are a few latest releases worth checking. 2011 was great, guys. Keep up the good work in the year of final Armageddon!

rbxep25 - P-Fang - The CRYPT by Robox Neotech

P-Fang in his The Crypt EP offers Halloween experience like no other. I have been a fan of this mysterious producer hailing from SF since the first time I've heard his mixtape. I've been waiting for this release anxiously and I have not been disappointed a bit. This is the perfect music to enter the (apparantely) apocalyptic 2012. My personal highlights of this EP -  Midnight, Devil and Graveyard2010  are full of totally unique, dark vibe which goes so well with my neurons and emotions. Hightly recommended by Doktor Krank! Grab this release on Beatport, Digital Tunes and at other digital retailers.

Bonus: Free tracks by P-Fang.

P-Fang - Graveyard (Lakritze Remix)
P-Fang - Graveyard 2010 f. Three 6 Mafia
P-Fang - The Devil f. Gangsta Boo

rbxep27 - +Verb - Fragments Ep by Robox Neotech

Then comes an old homie + Verb from US, the owner of supersexy lazer bass, in another winning Fragments EP for Robox Neotech. I've been his fan for years and as usual I'm totally impressed with the groovy, warm, bleepy heavens he creates on his machines doing his fantastic button work. Perfect music for home parties in any robot universe. The title track is a slowed-down, mutated robotic juke, a great tool for cerebral exercises in contemporary electronic music. The rest rides on a super solid hyper-bass and great synth improvisations with lots of action in the background plus great vocal samples. Impecabbly produced this is the music I hope hearing more and more in the future. Grab it exclusively on Beatport and elsewhere in a few weeks.

Free Tunes by + Verb:

+ Verb - Bionic Smiles
+ Verb - Light

As a pre-Christmas gift Robox Neotech has recently released a nice package of 4 free downloads by the artists from their rooster. Ghetto Robots includes four juke ghetto-tech bombs by Damscray, Stagga, Doshy and + Verb. Smack a Blackbird boasts a fantastic melody line and Damscray becomes more and more The Juke Champion of 2011 in my ears :) It is a fu fu fuc fuck fu fuc fucking banger! I'd really like to smack a few heads with dat tjun! + Verb in Godzilla is again at the forefront of the music scene, applying his great skills quite successfully to a new Juke'ish territory. All his typical elements are there, but sped up and cut up a bit more than usual :) Good job man! Doshy's Shunt sounds quite ok, whereas the track by Stagga somehow did not convince me at all.  Anyway, the package that cannot be missed!

Rbxep26 -Planet Terror - Planet Terror EP by Robox Neotech

Finally, next great release from Robox Neotech in which, Giallo meets Wij in the nasty collab project by Italian Planet Soap and a Russian whizz-kid Damscray. Planet Terror will terrorize your speakers and torment your soul with four merciless, stomping, heavy-bass booms. It's even hard to highlight one tune, this unholoy package should be consumed in full with all their smacking gory details. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Grab it on Beatport and scare your friends NOW!

Kidkanevil - Tokyorkshire Research Inc

Kidkanevil with another surprising release! This time it is a collection of 27 electronic scraps and beats, in a tribute to famous Raymond Scott, composer, audio engineer, a cooky scientist inventing early electronic devices such as polyphonic sequencer, or first self-composing synthetizer called Electronium. He has influenced many big names of the early electronic music era. His music also inspired naughty Londoner, Kidkanevil, to produce a fantastic, funny and highly entertaining beat tape using Scott's samples as source material. Kidkanevil vs. Scott offers pure sonic pleasure for any beathead. I personally had great time listening to these short sonic sketches. Grab it for free via bandcamp.

Herrmutt Lobby + NON preview (Jarring Effects)

Usually I do not post early soundcloud previews on my blog, I rather tend to review things in their final form, but I couldn't help myself with this preview of Hermutt Lobby & NON material forthcoming soon on the French netlabel Jarring Effects. Herrmutt Lobby is a collective of musicians, producers, 'scratch composers' & more from Brussels, but if I'm not mistaken, most of them currently reside in Berlin?  I really dig Hermutt Lobby's music, in particular that published on Eat Concrete (check their Bussfudge Powerscones EP), but this preview of new tracks literally blew my mind! Best, most solid, coherent, and neck-straining beats, with a dash of experimental electronica, I've heard in a while. It really twisted my neurons, hard. Definitely, most eagearly awaited release this year.

Nocow - Ruins Tape (G5 Music)

Alexey Nikitin a.k.a. Nocow has just released a free beat tape - Ruins Tape on the Syberian G5 Music label. I cannot think of any excuse not to grab this beautiful thing. Nocow is like an invisble spider weaving a dark, magic web of deep, throbbing sound based on 2-step / post garage beat. His trips are moody and oneiric, and sonic landscapes he paints through artificial machines, though heavily tained with melancholia and nostalgia, sparkle with emotions touching the listeners minds at some subliminal level. I devour these compositions in full, anxiously waiting for more, which hopefully happens soon, when Nocow releases his full-length LP on G5 music later this year. Dear readers, I wish you happy dreaming with Nocow.

Also, watch out for the limited edition of cassette tapes, available soon via Sweatlodgeguru.com !

Jakub "NOX" Abroziak is a talented 20-year old beatmaker from Poland. On his Atom EP he offers a fresh mix of spacey post hip-hop beats, strange vocal samples with plethora of bleeps and off-kilter sound effects. Diversity is the key when describing the music of this youngster who explores various paths of electronic landscape, in the end knitting them together into quite interesting and developed compositions. His production skills still leave room for improvement, but he already knows how to build intriguing atmosphere and ear-catching passages ("Atom", "Free Electron" or "Women in Hiroshima")  and is not afraid of more experimental excercises ("Proton Decay" of  "Neutron/Altai"). As a deliciously tasty dessert come two remixes by heavy-weight champions of new beatz from Germany and Poland. Proton Decay's remix by one of my favorite producers, Robot Koch from Berlin, is my personal highlight of the entire release. This guy never disappoints! His music imagination and sensitivity along with the immaculate production always work soooooo well with my emotions. His tunes are simply "touching" for the lack of the better word, and this remix is definitely one of the best I've heard from Robot this year. Teielte from Poland keeps pace with Robert, delivering a nice up-beat refix of Quarks. All in all Atom EP by Nox is definitely worth checking and I'm really proud that more and more artists from my country hit the global (if niche) electronic music circuit with quality stuff.

Powered by Goethe-Institut / Nairobi, BLNRB is an amazing project in which artists from Berlin mingle their artistic fluids with Kenyan producers, MC's and bands. The final effect of their joint efforts and many jam sessions over the span of two years, now to be released in the form of 18-track compilation "BLNRB - Welcome to the Madhouse" is really, really inspiring, eclectic and top-quality in terms of production. This type of collaborations I would like to hear and see more in Contemporary World Music!!!

Jahcoozi, Modeselektor, Gebrüder Teichmann, Mister Abbas, Kimya and Lon´Jon or the first lady of Kenyan rap, Nazizi, electropop band Just A Band and blind singer/guitarist Michel Ongaru plus six members of the HipHop collective Ukoo Flan, offer a real treat of fantastic electronic beatz by top producers from Berlin Bass Maffia and one-of-the-kind African riddims. I only wish there were more collaborations featuring Modeselektor as my personal highlight and definitely the best 'riddim' I heard this year is Monkeyflip featuring Modeselektor, Nazizi and Abbas. What a BEAST!! The same two emcees plus Jahcoozi are featured on the second best track on this compilation, i.e. title Madhouse. Check the entire package, it's super tasty, uplifting and constitute the great soundtrack for your home or office listening as well as outdoor activities :) I can only imagine the madhouse this little funky group creates when live on stage. I wish I was there. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Grillo - Show'em Sumo EP

Show'Em Sumo is another 'concept' album from a talented beatmaker Grillo. Last year I posted his I had U Ken EP on this blog. Now Grillo returns with a collection of beats devoted to the power of Edmond Honda, a famous sumo wrestler (apparently). You can call me an ignorant but I have no idea who Honda is :) Anyway, the artist collected scraps and pieces, polished them and released as full-fledged, nice flowing  compositions which encompass quite a broad sound range and present very consistent music experience all across the board. From my personal favorite of the EP, Oicho Throw, an oneiric beat trip with 'tubular' synths, spacey Sumo Splash through 8-bit funky neon banger called Bathhouse of the Rising Sun and more heavy bass-laden The Sumo Clinic or All Oichos up to quite surprising and ass-shaking 4/4 joint - Flying Headbutt. All in all I highly recommend checking Grillo's beats - diversity is the key here!

Luisterwaar - Dry/Wet (Saturate Records)

Luc Derks a.k.a. Lusterwaar (Listenwear in English) is a new producer from Heerlen, Netherlands. Saturate Records, which you should remember from great albums by heRobust or Krampfhaft, has just released this mega EP Dry/Wet which you can download on pay-what-you-want basis (no limit) via Saturate Records Bandcamp.

Apparently Luisterwaar, after listening to tons of music while skateboarding, reached the only possible conclusion - 95% of music you hear in the radio, tv, public spaces etc. is pure shiet and crap. He decided to put those remaining scraps of good and inspiring sound together and produce his own music. I must say he has succeeded extroardinarily. 11 tracks are superb exercise in mutant hip-hop beats running on a powerful drum kicks, distorted breaks and heavy sub-bass with great melodies weaving in the background and impeccable synth job all along. Mature compositions and great production skills plus darkish vibe I really dig recently create very attractive package. The more so if one remembers that this is a debut! Finally, kudos for the funniest title I've heard in a while,  Praise the Lord-ah for Having No Job-ah :)), which is by coincidence my personal highlight of this release and which reminds me of Brainfeeder stuff (in particular Lorn). This record made my day. Highly recommended by Doktor Krank. Once again Saturate Records shows good selection. Can't wait for more releases from them.

NO ALBUM EP - (free download)

Jakub 'Nox' Ambroziak, is another interesting producer emerging from Poland (hailing from Słupsk in northern part of our beautiful country). Some time ago he released a very interesting No Album EP and is currently working on the new material for his forthcoming Atom EP. No Album EP offers five compositions of experimental, twisted, instrumental hip-hop with quite dynamic beatz, drums and pads, and nicely embedded voice samples. Each track tells a different story, attracting the listener to explore this sonic landscape. A name to watch for the future definitely!

I highly recommend checking Nox's mix he did for the best mutant beat radio show in Poland - i.e. Kosmos hosted by Maceo Wyro. Nox's selection in this mix is absolutely top-notch and he creates great vibe all across the journey he takes his listeners for.

Natasha Kmeto - A Way To Love Me (devonwho remix)

Natasha Kmeto, beatmaker and vocalist from Portland, received a nice, hypnotic treatment in this uplifting remix by Portland's guru of beat music - Devonwho. A lovely food for your mind. Perfect score to one of my recent dreams :)

Turn On, Tune In, Drop out

I  am currently reading a fantastic book "Entangled" by Graham Hancock, a first fiction work by this controversial and daring explorer of archaic wisdom, hallucinogenic heritage and follower of numerous other paths of non-orthodox science (I highly recommend his opus magnum - Supernatural).  This post is dedicated to machine elves of supernatural dimensions and all adventurers hoping to encounter them during intensive psychedelic trips. Your time will come :)

I will not be very original and start my random selection from the track called D.M.T. by Tidus, an emcee and producer trying to convey dreamy, poetic message working with left-field, hip-hop, psych-rock, jazzy and many others music styles. Interesting.

TIDUS - D.M.T.

This one was taken from his full-length album, Absolute Elsewhere which is "a mind trip, one that you wont need entheogens to enjoy". Check this one out - a few really tasty bits for your mind to be found there.

One more tune from Tidus I like:

Tidus-Barrel by oktidus

18-year old Russian beatsmaker - Aleph in the best track of Haunt For Little Blind Fish EP released a few weeks ago on King Deluxe. I am more and more convinced that guys from Russia have some kind of top-secret facility hidden in Siberia where they were busily cooking and breeding super-talented producers for the last few years and recently started releasing them onto the general public to pursue some hidden and very very dangereous agenda :))

Aleph - Astyanax Mexicanus by king_deluxe

Next guy on my list iL from Illinois clearly went overboard many moons ago :) I am still trying to digest his off-kilter beat collages, expect more info on this blog about his latest debut apoLLo1ne3hree on Error Broadcast.

iL - For by Error Broadcast

... and now something completely different .... I fell in love with this tune instantly

Digital Farm Animals - I'll Never Fall In Love by Digital Farm Animals

I could not omit one of the best creators of mental, rocking tunes!!
Slugabed's Rockin U is available as a part of 50-tune package Nihon Kizuna - Compilation of music from worldwide artists donated to help raise awareness and money for the Japan Red Cross in support of the victims of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami that hit Northern Japan. Urban Waves Compilation

I love off-kilter, abstract electronic trips and thanks God I've checked my facebook site, where I found a link to Urban Waves Compilation. I've never heard of Urban Waves and could have missed this gem. I was quite surprised to find so many intereseting tracks there by artists whose names, in large majority, I saw for the first time. 22 producers deliver tons of experimental beatz, chip tune keys, deep groovy loops of sick abstract sounds, twisted synth improvisations, distorted bleeps, quite often with mental head-nodding force (well, my neck hurts). The quality of this compilation is exceptional, cause nearly all these tracks are at least very good, which does not happen so often with this type of beat experiments. The selection has been done very consistently and carefully. My personal highlights include music by: Downstate, Zomb., Lakritze, Vanilla, DAILON, LON, Icenine, SIG and Doshy. Well, let the music speak, I highly recommend you download this beast for free and prepare yoursel for a few surprises. One of the best beat comps I heard this year.

Low End Theory Podcast Episode XVIII - Nobody & Jonwayne

Low End Theory Podcast is baaaaaack :) with top quality content and artwork. This time DJ Nobody is accompanied by a new talented Californian beatmaker Jon Wayne (also an Emcee, apparantly).  Future mutant twisted beatz all over the place. Did I mention, killing quantity of heavy bass? Load this sonic bullet onto your gear, time to start pre-weekend preparations (BTW - Happy Thanksgiving to American folks).

From Russia with Love: Myown - Zipdubs [GNL 011]

Russia seems to breed more and more world-class beat producers. Myown from Moscow is definitely one of them. Twisted electronic psychedelia is the name that comes into mind immediately after hearing a few broken bleeps and pieces in his weird compositions of craftily controlled chaos. I really like such trips, I hope you also will. Grab Myown's 3 ZIP's released on the Gergaz Netlabel [GNL] and go for a fast sonic deconstruction.

Made in Poland: Kosmos vol. 29 vs. glitch-hop.pl podcast vol. 1 - Lakritze

Kosmos is the radio show hosted by Maceo Wyro in Radio Roxy.  You may remember a great show from two weeks ago posted on my blog. And you know what - vol.29 is even better! It offers absolutely top-notch selection of future mutant beatz, heavy bass, hip hop, funky, you-name-it head-nodding shit. Lazer Sword, NastyNasty, Slugabed, or absolutely mind-boggling Lorn's remix of Eskmo's Come Back (to be released on Ninja Tune soon) accompanied by other talented beatmakers like e.g. Kidkanevil, Daisuke Tanabe, Kenlo Craqnuques, Jneiro Jarel (!!!!), Bilal or Flako with a strong representation of more 'canonical' hip hop and a few interesting newcomers (RAD from Russia!!) again proves Kosmos to be the best radio show for new beat / hip hop / mutant music in Poland. And the real fucking, banging highlight of vol. 29 is Blast That by Nottz (f. Black Milk). I'm not an expert in hip-hop as such, but this tune really blasted me with its sheer raw power! Can't wait for Nottz album droping already in October.

KOSMOS 2010 VOL.29 (special web edition) by KosmoS

A recently established Polish glitch-hop.pl forum started the podcast series. Vol. 1 was cooked by a Berlin-based producer Lakritze representing Robox Neotech label (releasing  music by e.g. Stagga, Doshy, Monky, NastyNasty). Podcast is a 'mixture of errrorgenous fluoro-neoneonic-synth beats and gangsta wonky style' I couldn't write it better ha ha ha. The tracklist includes forthcoming releases on Robox Neotech from Lakritze by him self and few other fresh dopness like Halp, Demokracy, Heyoka or Splatinum. Banging mix !!

Maceo Wyro f. Sebol - Kosmos vol. 27 Radio Roxy

One of the most eclectic Polish Dj's and radio hosts active on the scene for decades now - Maceo Wyro is a host of a radio show in Radio Roxy called Kosmos.  Here is vol.27 of his musical trip as recorded on 18 Sept 2010. Maceo Wyro, associated with hop hop scene for years, runs the best radio show for new mutant, post hip hop beatz in Poland. Just look at the tracklist, starting from the f...g amazing tune by a Russian Moa Pillar from the recent Error Broadcast comp, through Japanese heavy beat offering of RLP, and superb beatmakers like Dibiase, Starkey, Maddslinky, Nosaj Thing or Swede:Art. The top selection totally in line with my music taste! Enough said, this very podcast made me buy a few new tracks, which does not happen very often :) His show last Saturday featured Sebol, a hip-hop promoter, blog writer, journalist from Poznań who dropped more funky and straight hip hop joints along with some dubstep (Ramadamman) and more twisted glitchy electronica (Robot Koch, Dabrye). All in all the best beatz to be heard on the Polish radio airwaves atm. Beware: radio host and guests speak Polish which can be fun for all you international listeners (I hope :) ) Highly recommended by Doktor Krank!

Raffertie - Electronic Explorations 118

Raffertie in the hot mix for Electronic Explorations. For all of you who know Raffertie's previous productions, this mix can be a bit of surprise. Raffertie's ravey, oldschool, amen-infused, wobble-horror aesthetics seem to be now subjected to a serious treatment with UK Funky and Future Garage, and also experimental electronica (reminding me a of tigerbeat6 productions) though with a definite trademark of crazy Raffertie sound. And with tracks like Rank Functions I can definitley hear Raffertie moving into even more experimental areas. Which is GOOD! I regard Raffertie a top producer and expect exploring new directions in music exactly from such people. Well, we will see what will come of it, new stuff from Raffertie will drop soon. For the time being, listen to his Electronic Explorations mix.

Raffertie about the mix:
"The mix is a preview of just some of my new material that I’ve been working on recently and it defines a new direction that I am heading with my music. The first release on my brand new label, a track called ‘Rank Functions’, which will be backed with a brilliant remix from Brighton’s Ital Tek as well as two other original tracks from myself are showcased in the mix. Photomachine and Randomer, two producers who have been dazzling me with their productions in recent months and who will also be releasing on my new label, are included here in the mix.
A full announcement about the label will be going up on my blog in the next week or two: http://www.raffertie.com"

Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says (BoomBaptist Remix)

Nice remix of the all-time classic Pharoahe Monch's Simon Says by a beatmaker BoomBaptist (also known as Thesaurus Rex) from Austin in Texas. Unlike e.g. most famous, angry and straight-in-yer-face remix of Slugabed Says, this is a more laidback, mid-tempo,  neon-synth driven rework. You can grab it for free along wiht the instrumental version. Go check it - some nice button work and heavy bass in it!
