Krampfhaft - Brightly Colored Candy Teardrops EP (Saturate Records)

DOKTOR KRANK'S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED RELEASE!

A new label on the neon, mutant beat scene Saturate Records, has just dropped its first release. Krampfhaft is a producer from Utrecht, Netherlands and his Brightly Colored Candy Teardrops EP is - to borrow a title of one of the tracks - "Pure Fucking Diamonds"!!! Add Coco Bryce and Pixelord as remixers (next to heRobust and Roel Funcken), and you know you want a closer peek at this release. Trust my werd - you'll not be disappointed. In particular Take Me Under - deep, beautiful, eerie soundscape with fantastic neon synths and talking beat. One of the best tunes I've heard this year! The title track is another example of the new wave of beatmaking by the young artists on the scene - reminding me of Error Braoadcast artists (in particular Montgomery Clunk) and the Russian beat squad e.g. Damscray, Demokracy or Moar Pillar. I must say I really dig and heartily accept the direction they follow. Lots of great, eclectic, fresh stuff coming from them all the time. The rest of the release is equally tasty and out of the remixes, I liked most the Pixelord's twisted future garage meets chip tunes refix (this guy knows how to improvise with his gear) and heRobust's blipping, spacey and a-synchronous beats.

Visit Saturate Records bandcamp to grab the release.

One tune is available for free from bandcamp and actually it is my personal fave of the EP :)

Friends of Friends Mix series: Darkhouse Family - Pump That In Your 4x4

Friends of Friends label / portal / creative center attracting super talented beatmakers has just released a funkstatic, twisted, mutant beat mixtape by Don Leisure & Metabeats a.k.a. Darkhouse Family, the duo hailing from Cardiff (check their Family Trees EP released a few months ago on Fat City). Fat beats indeed all across the board with every single name and track in the selection fitting perfectly well, as a result creating an uniterrupted flow of head-nodding bliss with occasional taste of sick weirdness (like Slugabed vs. Eprom. Oh my oh my oh my!!) I f...g demand Eprom's Psycho to be released IMMEDIATELY! Great mix from the 1st to the last second, highly recommended by your humble Doktor!

DOKTOR KRANK'S RELEASE OF THE MONTH!
9 OUT OF 10****

I am extremely pleased to write this post. Poland is catching up fast with the global electronic community and I come across more and more producers whose work makes me really proud. Teielte is a new beatz producer whose debut LP - Homeworkz is of absolutely top-notch quality and I am positive will meet with great reception across the globe. Teielte presents a very mature and sensitivie approach to production and skilfully handles the rich layers full of great samples and wide orchestration. This is a concise work by an artist who is not scared of using distorted bleeps, bits and cut-ups to create very melodic, smoothly flowing and tasty music cocktail with great synths and catchy basslines. At the same time he uses a lot of different patterns showing a good ear for diversification and offering a few absolutely fantastic gems for any open-minded fans of the current electronic music. He is definitely one of the best producers working in Poland atm and IMHO Homeworkz is the best debut I've heard in years on the Polish scene. And before you ask, I am not supporting an artist just because he is from Poland, I am doing this 'cause

TEIELTE KICKS ASS BIG TIME!!!

I really encourage you to get acquainted with Teielte's music, the trip you are about to embark on will be rewarding. Starting from cinematic score of 23rd century love-story taking place on Mars in Shempolain, through absolutely fantastic synths and beautifully mutated vocals in Landof Never or acid-jazzy pianos and trumpets in uplifiting Limpid or unsettling and powerful Harpghan to 'moog-ish' bleeps and bits in one of the highlights of the entire release - Gumbas (just listen to this absolutely astounding button work!). Then moving to the heavy sub-bass improvisations in super fat tune of Darkvoices to finally reach the most ambitious and multi-layered track of Homeworkz - 3 steps, where asynchronous beat meets tons of samples in the background. All in all Teielte is definitely in the global top league and I am absolutely convinced this record will make proper noise in the blogosphere.

Doktor Krank highly recommends Homeworkz for your listening pleasure. Grab a free track below and visit digital stores around 20 September to buy this fantastic release. You will not be disappointed, trust my werd.

Robot Koch - Devil Drums (Alex B remix)

Oh boy, what a treat. One of the best American producers Alex B remixes the track by my personally best producer on the electronic music scene - Robot Koch. The final outcome must be epic! Just listen to these synths - mind smashing, twisted eruption of dark beauty riding on a heavy bass with lotsa lotsa noise in the bacground. The perfect combination and a fantastic tool for office fitness, can't even sit properly on my ass and my head makes spastic, jerking moves which my fellow corporate co-slaves observe with a mixture of contempt and concern for my psychical health. F''k'em! This tune is too good not to be experienced full-bodily. Devil Drums is a track, from the forthcoming Friends of Friends Volume 3, Other producers on this complilation include Mexicans with Guns, Salva, King Cannibal, Lunice, Mux Mool, and Free the Robots. Can't wait to hear this stuff (release date: October 5).

OV04 Raleigh Moncrief - Combed Over Chrome EP

I have so little time recently and I have fished so many good releases within the last few months, especially on the glitch-hop / future beat front, I decided to post them without proper reviews or with just a few sentences from me. Which I don't like, becasue being a compulsive writer I feel very unsatisfied to release my babies to the general public without some guidance as to what expect from the music pushed on my blog. But I'd like to avoid losing this music in the voids of the blogosphere.

Let's start the series with a free EP by Californian Raleigh Moncrief (a guy/duo/band - have no idea?) Combed Over Chrome EP. This is one of the best EP's by a new artist I've heard recently. The title track is properly glitchy and dirty and the synths are very, very nice, reminding me of HudMo, Joker mixed with wonky LuckyMe stuff. I like! Actually it encompasses a few specific sounds evoking a deja vu as if I have already heard this somewhere!? Space oddyssey of Ew tar tar and dirty yet beautiful, bass-heavy Quiet Please really work for me. As a teaser, watch the video to the most neon track of the entire release - Similes. Definitely an artist to watch in the future. More glitch-hop goodies coming tomorrow. Stay tuned!
