Run Vie compilation

WOW! So many great names on the future beatz scene featured in one album which can be downloaded for FREE!!  RUN VIE compilation is the ABSOLUTE MUST for any beat headz out there! The music quality is much more than average for this type of comp. RUN VIE is a festival taking place in Vienna, Austria at the beginning of October. Shit, I wish I was there - actually it's not so far from my hometown (a mere 700km). I have to seriously consider the trip. Robot Koch, fLako, Swede:art, Dorian Concept, 1000 Names, Free the Robots, Aloe Blacc - what more can you desire to reach a sonic orgasm! (some artists performing at the festival that did not make it to the comp incl. Comfort Fit, Derrick May, BLU). But the real discovery on RUN VIE for me personally are tunes by the German hip-hop duo JR&PH7, in particular Let's move feat. Skyzoo in The Clonius remix. Never heard of them and I believe I have to catch up fast with their discography. Grab this gem and let your body Moooooooooooooooooove.

Grillo - I Had U Ken EP

I love to discover new, interesting music from the mass of sonic samples sent to me. I Had U Ken EP by an Italian guy called Grillo is such a gem. Great instrumental hip hop, mutant beatz, 8-bit extravaganza contained in 30 minutes divided into 10 tracks. EP was released on 1 September 2010 and can be downloaded for free via bandcamp. It is a kind of tribute to "the all American awesomeness of Street Fighter’s Ken Masters" :)) I always had a weak spot for chip tunes and 8-bit, videogame samples and Grillo delivers them en masse. His beatz move my body and soul and make it really hard to seat on my ass at work. The higlights are TaDaDa, Online Saltiness and Krazy Kicks series. Doktor Krank highly recommends this quality release!

Here is a word from the author himself:
Angry lo fi synth lines buzz along with deep, stilted beats in I Had U Ken, Grillo’s tribute to the all american awesomeness of Street Fighter’s Ken Masters. Videogame samples and xbox live scrubs spouting profanity during online play adorn the shorter tracks, while Ken’s own in game voice is autotuned and vocoded to sing along in TaDaDa, feeling like drunken yodeling on acid. There’s also a chiptune remake of the original street fighter 2 ken theme, a nice trip down memory lane before the dark, dubby and moody Thunder Kick closes out the record with its menacing guitar riff.

Grillo - I Had U Ken EP (Bandcamp download)
A few months ago I've covered on my blog a great Oscillations Compilation by Jus Like Music and Apple Juice Break featuring a track by Grillo. Quite a nice track, but his current release shows a real progress his music made since that time.

Lazer Sword - Batman

Lazer Sword has just revealed the first single from their forthcoming and much anticipated self-titled debut LP to drop on 2 November. Batman is a bit different from the usual high-energy electro output of Low Limit and Lando Kal, yet it definitely bears the trademarks of their style - tons of cut-up samples, mutated vocals, cold synths and very distinct micro-beat plus wonky bassline. One can definitely hear further move towards the Europe / UK urban scene (well, to be honest the boyz has followed this direction in their releases for some time already) and Batman easily fits the Glasgow's Numbers profile (what is obvious) as well as L-vis 1990's Night Slugs or some other UK G / future garage imprints. Now, I am even more anxious to hear the entire release, as I believe that Lazer Sword with their sample- and synth-based sensitivity and craftsmanship could bring a lot of fresh air to the growing UK electronic scene, while at the same time transferring some of UK urban sound back to the States. I keep my fingers crossed.

Batman EP 12" should drop soon on Innovative Leisure with remixes by Rustie and Nguzunguzu.

Tricil - The Emancipation

I love to receive media packages with music which really turns me inside out, which is exactly the case with Tricil and his absolutely mesmerizing spacey electronic trip through the ocean of deep bass in The Emancipation. This music attunes so well with my internal neural make-up I've put it on constant repeat like for ever while suspending my multi-tasking approach and diving deep into the beautiful sound. What is more, this track come in package with a fantastic video created by the Burning Head crew from UK. This piece is a submission to the Enter Calico project which is an exciting audio-visual compilation by UK electronica label Clear Notice. Tricil is the first artist featured. Hailing from Atlanta,Georgia he is known for many diverse styles of music. This is his contribution to the heavy bass world.

The Enter Calico album is available for purchase on ITunes

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY DOKTOR KRANK!!!

And the great video !!!

Quality Glitch Hop meets Quality Hip Hop: SPLATINUM vs. KING FANTASTIC

ARTIST: SPLATINUM
TITLE: Love for Those Hustlers EP
LABEL: Bass Drop Music | Street Ritual
CAT-NO: BDM-001
FORMAT: Digital
RELEASE DATE: 05/15/2010

Track Listing:
1) Love for Those Hustlers
2) Sipping on That Sizzurp
3) My Posse is on Broadway
4) Know About the Dirty South
5) It?s Bigger Than Glitch Hop
6) Vadonna's Magina

Two great releases has just arrived to my dropbox. Both crews hailing from the sunny Cali, both offering super slick beat and sick rapping and madafucki**ganstashizzle. Both available totally FOR FREE!!!!

First of them, SPLATINUM is back with a 6-track devotional to the gangsters and the hustlers. The “hip hop obsessed” Seattle duo has been getting freaky with the samples and blessed it all up with their slippery signature frequency modulation swagger. Call in the mop boy for this one. Super sonic clean up in booth 3!
It's Bigger than Glitch Hop or Know about the Dirty South are my personal highlights but listen carefully to the entire release - it's classic (classy?) Glitch Hop with distorted, glitchy basslines and synth work, sick beat and fantastic acapellas! Highly recommended by Doktor Krank.

Grab this hot stuff on Splatinum's bandcamp:

King Fantastic's debut album "Finger Snaps and Gun Claps" is the best Hip Hop album I've heard in a long long while. Super heavy-weight LA duo of Killer Reese One and Troublemaker present a "concise study in Westcoastsynthesizerbeachbumgangstermusic" :)) with ear-catching rhyming and super tight, stomping beat, it is a veeeeeeeeerrrrrrry serious head-nodding biznizn. My favorites tunez include: Lost Art of Killing, Stop Fucking Paying, D-boy Stance, On-q or Why?Where? What? but every single song on this absolutely fantastic record is a sure winner. OSCILLATIONS PT. 2 - (Slugabed, Alex B, Kidkanevil, Ghost and more)

The second part of a widely acclaimed compilation: Oscillations has arrived. Jus Like Music & Apple Juice Break present another set of 20 tracks of hard-to-describe music ranging from twisted hip-hop through glitch hop, wonky, electronica, dubstep to full-fledged beatz and tons of other styles in between.  As in the case of pt. 1 the opening track rocks like hell! I have nvever heard about XLII. He is a Ukrainian raised in UK and now living in Japan. His Roll Upon You Like XLII  moves with such an ease between dubstep subs, neon synths and raw hip-hop beat, like  the best tracks reaching my ears recently from the West Coast of US. Great banger for my car's sound system!! I want more, sir. Two heavy-weight champions of glitchy beats follow. Slugabed and Alex B need no introduction I hope :) Easily, two of the top-10 producers in my personal ranking at the moment. And you can grab their 320' tracks for free, praised be Jus Like Music crew.

However, the highlight of pt. 2 has been begotten in CIA by the London-based producer  Ghost (I highly recommend you grab a nice package of outstanding remixes from his website, incl. Foreign Beggars, Dabrye, Bonobo, Coldcut) who takes the listener for a voyage through dark sonic landscapes applying wide instrumentation and pulsing bass along the way. TIP! All in all this compilation is even better and more concise than Pt. 1. Other tunes I liked include: Kidkanevil, Suzi Analog, Constrobuz, Greymatter and Beatcasso. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

OSCILLATIONS PT. 1

Juslikemusic  me and Apple Juice Break released a fantastic compilation Oscillations pt. 1

"Oscillations is a FREE digital compilation presented by Jus Like Music and Apple Juice Break designed to help spread the word of amazing music by amazing artists from the genres of hip-hop, electronica, neo-soul, dubstep and anywhere in between! Featuring primarily exclusive, or at least previously unreleased material, each of the two parts contains around 20 tracks. The release will also come packaged with a pdf booklet full of info on the artists, plus a showcase of art by an array of incredibly talented visual artists"

This is an absolute must for any fan of future hip-hop / EDM / glitch hop/ beatz and heavy bass. Honestly speaking, I don't recognize more than half of the artists, but this just adds to the charm of this quality compilation. The package starts from a real bomb by Broken Haze hailing from Tokyo, Japan. Block will take your breath away with the sheer power of unrestrained beat and synths, sounding like a joint jam by Glitch Mob and Rustie. Om Unit from UK (well this name you definitely heard!) in equally successful tune goes deeper and darker, while Chairman Kato from London again rides the path of neon synths and heavy bass with lots of bleeps and occasional lazers. Well there are too many tracks to describe them in detail, but an overall quality is really astounding for this type of compilation. Apart from the three above mentioned killers, other highlights were provided by Vital, Decepticon Bootleg Machine, le N?KO, Bluntspeakers and BUG. Great food for your mind and body, already stoked to hear pt. 2!! Go to the bandcamp site and download the entire package for free.

RQM - U SHE ME (OCTA PUSH RMXXX)

The homie RQM has released a preview of his forthcoming release (full-length, EP ?) with a great future-garage remix of U SHE ME by Octa Push from Portugal. The tune was originally produced by Robot Koch and  if this remix can be an indication of the final material to be expected from RQM Propaganda camp,  I anticipate a sure win! Bassline is simply sick and infectious while emcee's voice was cut up beautifully to match the pulsing beat. Highly recommended!

SOUTH RAKKAS CREW - THE STIMULUS PACKAGE (FREE!!!!)

Fucken shit!! Electro dancehall champions from Jamaican / Canadian South Rakkas Crew have just released a fantastic album via Mad Decent totally for free (shocked !!!!). Go grab it peeps while the offer lasts. South Rakkas Crew is very very high in my personal ranking in baile / kuduro / dancehall / socca / tropical genre. For me, they outdistance not only Major Lazer (well, I've never been a fan of Diplo and Switch combo anyway)  but most of other heavy dancehall/electro hybrids. Highlights of the release are: Double Up riddim with fantastic Killa Queens and Lady Chan on vocals (this track was heavily rotated in my car's Sound System last year), baile funk version of Doble Up riddim, Mylo riddim, Holiday riddim. In general this is a showcase of a gang of fantastic emcees, including also Capleton, Serocee or Rage rapping to pounding and infectious electro beat. I love this pure, raw energy! Definitely, one of the best free releases I had a chance to listen ever. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Free NastyNasty/Vinyl Blight Split Release

More free gifts for all good children out there. Experimental music label from Boston, Vermin Street has just released a free split including two heavy glitched tracks by NastyNasty (yes, this boy is unstoppable at the moment) and Vinyl Blight

NastyNasty in full swing again. Heavy bassline and sick drops wiht crazy vocals by Too $hort and some autotune (or vocoder - can't tell the difference never). Killer!

This one is a properly glitched, and seriously cut-up remix of Milshake by Kelis (actually hardly recognizable). Cut-core?

OV04 Raleigh Moncrief - Combed Over Chrome EP

I have so little time recently and I have fished so many good releases within the last few months, especially on the glitch-hop / future beat front, I decided to post them without proper reviews or with just a few sentences from me. Which I don't like, becasue being a compulsive writer I feel very unsatisfied to release my babies to the general public without some guidance as to what expect from the music pushed on my blog. But I'd like to avoid losing this music in the voids of the blogosphere.

Let's start the series with a free EP by Californian Raleigh Moncrief (a guy/duo/band - have no idea?) Combed Over Chrome EP. This is one of the best EP's by a new artist I've heard recently. The title track is properly glitchy and dirty and the synths are very, very nice, reminding me of HudMo, Joker mixed with wonky LuckyMe stuff. I like! Actually it encompasses a few specific sounds evoking a deja vu as if I have already heard this somewhere!? Space oddyssey of Ew tar tar and dirty yet beautiful, bass-heavy Quiet Please really work for me. As a teaser, watch the video to the most neon track of the entire release - Similes. Definitely an artist to watch in the future. More glitch-hop goodies coming tomorrow. Stay tuned!

BLUNT INSTRUMENT - BLUNT EP (FREE)

Oh boy. Glitch Hop artists are releasing better and better music, and the end of the year really looks great. To be honest, a few months ago I was a bit bored with glitch hop sound having listened to artists, big names and young guns in this genre somehow facing a kind of impenetrable wall or missing something to make the required step to the next level (cavaet - this might be utterly a subjective view, but this is MY blog he he he). Then, the end of the summer came with amazing releases by PANTyRAiD, Mimosa, Ben Samples, Bassnectar, Vibesquad, Lunice, Godzilla New Year remix comp to mention just a few plus tons of really interesting mixtapes and many new, good producers joining the force. I have immediately regained my trust in glitch hop which is further strengthened by such releases as the debut Blunt EP by Blunt Instrument aka Luke (DJ Boxset) and Rocco who hail from Brisbane in Australia.

Blunt Instrument - Blunt EP

Blunt Instrument seem to approach music in a very organized way. Having a few-year experience in the filed of live music, they know their gear perfectly which allows them to polish the details properly delivering extremely tight tunes, actually the entire release is among the best produced music (any genre) by newcomers I've heard for ages!!! Blunt Instrument started from experimental hip hop made in Ninja Tunes, they also mention Amon Tobin, Tipper and Bassnectar among their inspirations. All this led to their full-time involvement with glitch hop sound which they commanded quite craftily.

The tracks on their debut EP look a bit at the darker side, in particular in Tech Percy which combines crispy distorted synths with melancholic piano in a kind of rain serenade, or Nose Poke with bassnectar-like beats and cut-up vocals. The heavy, stomping bwamp is also there!! Crumpled Funk, which is my personal highlight of the release, with infectious 'strategic tactics techniques' repeated all over, funky beat and pumping, talking bassline makes my legs move like crazy. I have to go smoke another cancer to chill out a bit (any excuse is good). Smashing Plates is another track with great potential for a club anthem - just listen to this mesmerizing acapella and wait till the distorted bassline drops. Wow!

Apparently they have a few dozen tracks waiting for final treatment on their hard drives. C'mon boys share them with us. I know they will be good!!

LUNICE - LAZER REMIX VOL. 2

You know you want this. If you don't yet you will soon. Lunice associated with Montreal's Turbo Crunk crew (e.g. Megasoid, Hovatron, Bearmod) has just dropped a delicious remix pack. Grab it for free:

LUNICE - LAZER REMIX VOL. 2

Stanky Stanky Leg = the best remix I've heard this year! Lunice is ILL!

P>S> Glitch hop / heavy bass seems to f...g explode this Autumn, I absolutely fail to properly listen to all the stuff coming my way, without even mentioning the time required to post just a fraction of QUALITY music I hear recently. What a shame :(

JAY WIKID - ON THE DOWN LOW REMIX PACK FOR FREE!!

More glitch crunk / liquid dancehall staff from Canada. Jay WIKID has just released a package consisting of 7 quite original remixes of classic tracks. Highlights include: Nancy Sinatra's beautiful Bang Bang turned into uptempo cut-up glitch-hop roller. Prodigy's all-time rave anthem Outaspace heavily mashed up in a dancehall manner. Collie Buddz riddim Come Around (one of my personal all-time faves) pulsating with liquid bass in a Bassnectar's style. WICKED! Jamaican punther Ward 21's Rudy of the Century received a surprising bleeps and beeps treatment from Jay Wikid with funktastic, weird drums and crazy melody. Beach Boys California Girls (!!!) remix is pure madness.

Pretty broad selection I would say. You'll definitely recognize the originals yet Jay Wikid managed to pitched them up adding his trademark heavy, distorted bassline all across creating one of the most interesting and diverse set of remixes that my headphones had a chance to acquaint with recently.

You can catch Jay Wikid on
glitch.fm as co-host on Friday's, mega super dope BWAMP show powered by Canadian crew of Integrated Grime Unit and GlitchHop Forum Crew.

Grab a very solid mixtape from Jay Wikid which I posted on my blog some time ago: Jay Wikid - Stay Tuned Mix

Jay Wikid's crafty basslines will turn your insides out and have you grinding before you know it. His musical recipes blend infectious hiphop rhythms with light sprinkles of glitchy fun - smothered with a topping of bassline warfare. Three years ago, the Canadian producer was chosen by Bassnectar as his protege; their first collaborative release, "Select Frequency", was the #1 Hip Hop track on Beatport for over 3 weeks and subsequently licensed to MTV, where it continues to rack up international plays. Jay also works under the alias "Ghetto Blastaz" in collaboration with Colorado native Jantsen. Expect fast-paced hip hop and dancehall breaks, overdriven glitchy crunk and electrozested zipper basslines from this hard-hitting duo. Currently you can catch Jay as a Friday night co-host on Glitch.FM radio, a resident of "Whatever's Dope" at Vancouver's Shine Nightclub, and furiously locked in the studio preparing a dynamic live show for his first international tour. His enthusiasm immediately ignites any dancefloor - watch him throb and bob, energetically dancing along with his crowd, as he twists and warps his wompy style productions. Whatever genre he's playing, you can count on Jay to keep it squishy, glitchy and sexy all at the same time. Straight rowdy!

FREDDY TODD - GHOST DANCE MESSIAH EP

01. 'Thug Tastic (Turn Up the Subs)'
02. 'Can't Fathom This'
03. 'Grind Baby'
04. 'The Times'
05. 'Detroit Gets It'
06. 'Festivities'
07. '16 Bars'

Freddy Todd, a producer from Detroit, has recently dropped a very, very interesting glitch-hop EP 'Ghost Dance Messiah' with 7 solid and bass-heavy tracks which everyone can grab for free for a limited period of time. He claims on myspace that he sounds like 'Jesus on acid'. Well, even if it is a bit overstretched, I definitely find some acid/trancey traces in his music, especially in the way he loops his basslines or the way he works various knobs and buttons (see e.g.: The Times). But most of all his tunes offer great, whompy glitch-hop sound made in Detroit. Heavy, metallic, stomping beat, glitched synths, sick acapellas and twisted melodies always please Doktor Krank very much!! Highlights of the EP are Detroits Get It, Grind Baby, Can't Fathom This, Thug Tastic (Turn up the Subs).

I've already mentioned Freddy Todd on my blog a few times. Check the description and listen to two tracks from the EP:

Freddy Todd - Detroit Gets It
Great glitch-hop track by a Detroit producer, a kind of response to „witnessing The Glitch Mob, RJD2, and Bassnectar bomb the blocks in down town Detroit". (his own words). In my opinion a very good and ass-kicking response. Tight mixing and very nice work with deconstructed vocals and if you know Glitch Mob stuff – you can easily recognize Mob-like beats and melodies skillfully woven into the composition.

Freddy Todd – Grind Baby
Another great industrial glitch offering from a city with dying industry. Excellent Detroit beats full of cleverly mixed samples from Busta Rhymes, STS9, Funkadelic, Ben Harper and more. I really dig Freddy Todd’s whompy and melodic aesthetics.

BONUS:
Freddy Todd - Oh Ma Gad Drap Tha Bass – Freddy Todd Very tight and ass-shaking track using a great mix of soundz plus a few classic beats and pieces. Thumbs up for Michael Jackson's sample.

Tracklisting:
1.The Freaky Bean
2.Slip
3.Monkey Crunk
4.Nun Cha Ka

Please head over to http://opiuo.bandcamp.com/ and download...the entire EP.
It's FREE. And if you want donate money you can. You name the price. Be generous to Opiou - this is epic EP. The fattest, heaviest and tightest crunky glitch bass I've heard recently. Low end frequency with extremely groovy and funky beat makes my ass bounce like a 16 year old chica on a Fake Blood's disco gig (pardon my imagination). Stomp, twist, jump, swing, head, head, head ... head ?!?!? where is my f...g head? Gotch ya! Uffff, that was close. Do not attempt listening to these four killer tracks while at work, unless you don't give a dub about your co-slaves or bo-asses and are concerned about your overall corporeal fitness.
Until now I've never heard about Opiou and probably would not hear if not for a great source of fattest beats and heaviest bass - namely Glitch Hop Forum. Go there, register and share the joy of music with other bass addicts.

Preshish Moments - Preshwrecka Compactotrax vol 1. GLITCH CORE!!!!

http://www.preshishmoments.com/preshwrecka.zip (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Preshish Moments, breackore / glitch producer and above all remixer, representing Daly City, just released a free 12 minute / 7 track music gem called Preshwrecka Compactotrax vol 1. He serves super intense glitch core of which I am quite fond recently (after being torn to pieces during the glitch hop / breakcore set by Mochipet here in Warsaw).

Hip hop accapelas are treated by Preshish Moments with the delicacy of a big industrial press and subjected to heavy, freestyle knobs and buttons extravaganza. This led to creating quite an interesting mish-mash of sounds, starting from more or less standard glitch hop (no. 2,3) to slowed-down to the maximum, glitchy, heavy and even a bit psychedelic tracks (no1, no. 6) through "oh' I dropped to much speed and I have to talk pretty fast" happy hardcore (no. 4) to the absolute highlight of this release (no. 5) which is Preshish Moment's refix of Gucci Mane's: Pilz - totally contagious, breakcore treatment of this famous anthem is the best remix, I've heard, next to the Zomby’s garage version of Pilz on his Where were you back in 92’s album.
Giving it a try I encourage you. IT's FREE!!!!!

Finally, don't forget to check the latest installment in the Mochipet's Microphonepet remixes series, namely reCored which has been just released (great artwork!!). Listen here. It includes a very good remix of Lazy Day by Preshish Moments.

Track Listing:
01) Girls & Boys & Toys (NastyNasty Tits & Asscot Mix)
02) Lazy Day (Preshish Moments Remix)
03) Girls & Boys & Toys (The Fez Remix)
04) Girls & Boys & Toys (Deleete Remix)
