POST NO. 666!!!! Up2d8 Festival.

YES! IT IS SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIXTH POST ON MY BLOG! HEIL ERIS!

I was thinking about some special satanic contents, but instead I chose to present a hellishly good promotional trailer of the forthcoming Up2d8 Festival which would take place next weekend in Białystok in North-Eastern part of Poland. If you are nearby I really encourage you to check it, you'll have a chance to see and listen to such heavy-bass champions as: Slugabed, CocoBryce, 16-Bit, Dubsknit & more or the champion of ambient sound Biosphere peforming live with his band plus sets by e.g. legendary Robert Hood or Scratch Perverts, many hip hop acts and local talents.

Now, let's move to the promotional trailer of Up2d8 Festival entitled "Something like that is possible only in Białystok". It is in Polish but the authors provided English subtitles, thus all international readers should also check this short film. It is definitely one of the best festival trailers I've seen ever. Enjoy.

Preview of the forthcoming Slugabed EP Moonbeam Rider. This guy kills as usual!!! To be released on Ninja Tune next week - I'm positive this will be one of the releases of 2011. Heavy slabs of skweeish lazer synths and talking basslines - I f...g love this sound.

MOONBEAM RIDER EP TICKLER by SLUGABED

New sick joint from the Lord of All Pixels - Pixelord called Dominator, which you can grab for free from his soundcloud. Future garage / 2-step thing wiht slaying synths and  fantastic samples of one of the best tekno trax ever - Dominator by Human Resource. THE  Anthem of my rave youth played to death at the parties in Warsaw at the beginning of the '90's, later fantastically mashed-up by 2 Many Dj's.

I'm Bigger, and Bolder, and Rougher and Tougher, in other words Sucker, there is no other...no other...I'm bigger, and bolder, and rougher in other words sucker there is no other,
I'm the one and only Dominator, I'm the one and only Dominator
Wanna Kiss Myself ...

On June, 13th Made in Glitch will release a new EP Lovelost by Gladkill, Siberian born (aha!) and New York raised producer Boris G. Nice trippy heavy bass tune. Can't wait to hear the whole EP.

Turn On, Tune In, Drop out

I  am currently reading a fantastic book "Entangled" by Graham Hancock, a first fiction work by this controversial and daring explorer of archaic wisdom, hallucinogenic heritage and follower of numerous other paths of non-orthodox science (I highly recommend his opus magnum - Supernatural).  This post is dedicated to machine elves of supernatural dimensions and all adventurers hoping to encounter them during intensive psychedelic trips. Your time will come :)

I will not be very original and start my random selection from the track called D.M.T. by Tidus, an emcee and producer trying to convey dreamy, poetic message working with left-field, hip-hop, psych-rock, jazzy and many others music styles. Interesting.

TIDUS - D.M.T.

This one was taken from his full-length album, Absolute Elsewhere which is "a mind trip, one that you wont need entheogens to enjoy". Check this one out - a few really tasty bits for your mind to be found there.

One more tune from Tidus I like:

Tidus-Barrel by oktidus

18-year old Russian beatsmaker - Aleph in the best track of Haunt For Little Blind Fish EP released a few weeks ago on King Deluxe. I am more and more convinced that guys from Russia have some kind of top-secret facility hidden in Siberia where they were busily cooking and breeding super-talented producers for the last few years and recently started releasing them onto the general public to pursue some hidden and very very dangereous agenda :))

Aleph - Astyanax Mexicanus by king_deluxe

Next guy on my list iL from Illinois clearly went overboard many moons ago :) I am still trying to digest his off-kilter beat collages, expect more info on this blog about his latest debut apoLLo1ne3hree on Error Broadcast.

iL - For by Error Broadcast

... and now something completely different .... I fell in love with this tune instantly

Digital Farm Animals - I'll Never Fall In Love by Digital Farm Animals

I could not omit one of the best creators of mental, rocking tunes!!
Slugabed's Rockin U is available as a part of 50-tune package Nihon Kizuna - Compilation of music from worldwide artists donated to help raise awareness and money for the Japan Red Cross in support of the victims of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami that hit Northern Japan. Be so kind and share some monies with people in need!!

ROCKIN U by SLUGABED

Oh boy, if synths could killl :) Great, uplifting tune by Hyetal taken from his forthcoming album Broadcast on Black Acre Records:

Hyetal - Beach Scene by Black Acre Records

FX-laden twisted button work in + verb remix of Planet Soap's track. Dope and ill bass. I like!

TOP RELEASES OF 2010 BY DOKTOR KRANK

Part two of my best of the year series. Top 10 Releases of 2010 feature best LP’s and EP’ published last year. Again, as in the case of Top Tracks, I hate myself for leaving out so much great music. Thus I decided to at least mention the runners-up at the bottom of the list, which is still just the tip of an ice-berg.

2010 music-wise was absolutely AWESOME with new, niche genres and cross-genres gaining on popularity (e.g. glitch-hop, west-coast blap and beats, mutant hip-hop beats, future UK – wot u call it – thing) and the wind of creative change blowing most strongly from across the eastern Polish border – from the land of Mother Rossija – where tenths of talented producers (e.g. DZA, Pixelord, Demokracy, Moa Pillar, Pavel Dovgal, Myown to name just a few) are churning wicked tune after wicked tune in all the shades of dayglo synths.  German and Dutch beatmakers (like e.g. Halp, Coco Bryce, Doshy, Robot Koch, Swede:art) are finally gaining, quite deservedly, the proper recognition across the world for their brave and creative approach to beatmaking. Central and Eastern Europe is finally waking up and starts participating actively in the global scene (releases by PTR1, Teielte from Poland, Montgomery Clunk from Romania or 1000Names from Bulgaria are absolutely world class). UK urban sound is morphing like crazy, I have lost the track of all the transformations and trends long time ago. Well, to be honest  the apparently thriving UK Funky or Future Garage is not my thing, but it seems producers on this scene are flirting more and more often with post hip-hop beats which I can only support whole-heartedly expecting more developments in this area in 2011. Last year was also a tough time for any writer / blogger / journalist, your humble narrator including, who embarked on a futile task of describing the music which escapes any categorization or pigeonholing like never before. Using this opportunity I would like to kindly apologize for misleading or confusing terminology used in this blog. I hope this will continue in the future :)

I may sound like Euro Nationalist (I am not), but 2010 was apparently the Year of European Label. Error Broadcast, Project Mooncircle, Robox Neotech, Tokyo Dawn Records, Numbers, Black Acre, Fremdtunes  (to name just a few), are pushing this new mutant sound forward delivering many surprises and consistent, solid quality along the way. Of course one should not make a mistake of perceiving music only via geographical location of the artists or labels, because such distinctions do not work anymore. Which was nicely commented by Low Limit from Lazer Sword on his twitter recently: “a lot of these journalists/blog can't listen to music out of context of the artists' location, & the geographical assumptions along with it. tell me what it sounds like not what it you'd assume it sounds like given the place it was made. ill make footwork in a barn in idaho fukit” Ha ha ha – how true! Music is a global thing now, but I still believe that some local mentality, upbringing, sensitivity and setting in which you create your works of art also plays a substantial role in the total scheme. Ok, enough of this. Let's move to the verdict. And the winners are ...:

DOKTOR KRANK'S TOP RELEASES OF 2010

1. Swede:art. – Emotional Colors (Tokyo Dawn Records)

The sexiest debut of 2010.  Sex on the Airplane, Mozambique, Wonky Bikez or Linguistics will be my all-time-favorites for many years to come, I'm positive. A top-notch release full of the best future beats by a super talented producer from Germany. Since the first time I came across the work of Joachim Pruegl at the end of 2009, I really felt his potential, but I've still been surprised with his stellar debut. He has instantly catapulted himself to my personal top German producers league next to the mighty Robot Koch.

Slugabed – Ultra Heat Treated EP (Planet Mu)

I could not decide which release should I name my best release of 2010. I decided to present two prizes, another top first prize goes to the powerful, crazy and twisted synths of Brighton's wizz-kid whose EP ruled in my player in the first half of 2010. Slugabed makes no mistakes, takes no hostages and is merciless. More praise in my review above.

2. Lorn – Nothing Else (Brainfeeder)

Great, dark, deep and moving electronic trips by Lorn who released one the best album of 2010 in Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder. In this case, I personally believe that the pupil outgrew the master. I like Nothing Else better than IMHO a bit overhyped Flying Lotus' Cosmogramma. (Now, try something different. Listen to a nice mixtape produced by Lorn with Lefty aka the L.E.F.T. rapping to the beat from Nothing Else - Lefty aka L.E.F.T Kill the Messenger)

3. Low Limit vs. Lando Kal – Golden Handshake EP (Numbers)

This is what I wrote in my review on glitch.fm  “a cluster bomb of deconstructed sonic mayhem which will create havoc on any dancefloor from Paris to New York and L.A. Their music is about party and rave, about breaking the necks, setting bodies on fire in a digital dancefloor bonanza of purity-defying electro lazer assualt. This may sound bombastic, but for me Lazer Sword epitomizes the future of EDM, where hip hop swagger meets post-disco and funky beat, while all end up in a heavy-bass soup spiced up with tons of crunky synths, sick samples, ear-catching cut-ups, bleeps, beeps and whatnot.” Read to rest to learn why I believe this EP to be a motherfucking future party slammer! And why I have been feeding my Car’s sound system with it for months.

4. Robot Koch – Songs for Trees and Cyborgs (Project Mooncircle)

Second full-length release (along with the earlier Listen to Them Fade EP) by the most famous Robot from Berlin has solidified his position among top world producers. I love his unique style of button pressing and fat multi-track sonic textures he creates so consistently and skillfully. His vintage sound works equally well in his own productions as in collaborations with other artists (e.g. great tunes with Doshy and 1000Names). Again, on this release we receive great vocal tracks - Verbal Bruises with Portable Morla and Brujeria with Graciela Maria are among the best, next to Atari You featuring a great emcee from Poland – RQM (who have been part of the Berlin mafia for years). For real, there are not many artists on electronic music scene with such a vision and craft. RESPECT! Peeps from USofA should watch out as Robot Koch is going on a tour across the States in February 2011. Good news is he is working on many projects at the moment, thus we have a guaranteed delivery of superb beats also in 2011.

5. Pixelord – Lucid Freaks pt.1 (Error Broadcast)

Chip tune, 8-bit, wonky perverted button bonanza of top class by the Lord of All Pixels – one of the freshest, most original and experimental releases of the year! Hooked me instantly into beats from Russia, which became a real goldmine of fresh sounding electronic music.

6. Ninja Tune XX – Box Set –

The almighty set of absolutely smashing 6 CD’s released to celebrate 20th anniversary of one of the most respected and forward-looking labales on the planet.  A MUST for any open-minded music lover. List of artists featured is simply ridiculous!

7. Doshy – Scatter Remixes (Robox Neotech).

The best remix compilation of 2010! Democracy, Rudi Zygadlo, Pixelord, Halp & Coco Bryce, Monky, Lakritze, Zeno and Doshy himself plus other remixers deliver a super package adding their creative personal touch to very good original material. I wrote in my review: "Robox Neotech is THE LABEL OF THE FUTURE. Trust my werd! Music they serve is soooo refreshing, mind-boggling, full of this kinky, bleepy, twisted lazers and sick beats, dipped in hard to describe RAW, post-industrial spices. Future beats attacking the listener with full force, engaging all your senses and making your wetware circuitry go high high high with liquid, digital emotions. Just listen to the latest offering from Robox Neotech - Scatter Remixes EP. I liked the the original EP by Doshy a lot, but these remixes really made my jaw drop low low low". Read the rest above.

8. PTR1 – Above the structures (Concrete Cut Recordings)

Definitely, the best release from Poland this year (closely followed by Teielte's Homeworkz). Intelligent, mesmerizing and enchanting dub music! A fragment of my review: All five original tracks by ptr1 create a very concrete block of bass-friendly music with absolutely mesmerizing melodies. I listen to tons of electronic productions, coming across tracks showing very good production skills, yet missing one extremely important component - namely soul. Whereas ptr1 has a rare gift enabling him to squeeze beautiful emotions out of the cold analog and digital tools. Just listen to Cold, my personal highlight of the release, this tune reaches deep deep inside my neural structure touching right nerves and proving once again why humans has loved music for millenia

9. Planet Soap – After Silkworm (Car Crash Set)

Another great remix compilation showcasing talents from across the world. Car Crash Set prepared a fat selection of of remixes of tracks taken from "Silkworm" EP by bass-trio Planet Soap from Milan, Italy (released in September 2010). Coming out of nowhere for some, but definitely not for the regular readers of my blog, as "After Silkworm" features the works of many of my favorite producers on the beat scene. Read the rest in my review above.

10. 1000names - Illuminated Man (Black Acre)

Great, full-length album on Black Acre by this Bulgarian duo was one of the biggest surprises this year for me. I heard their previous releases but it was  Illuminated Man that has really won me over. I like a kind of consistent, spacey flow to their music in which they throw tons of different bleeps and beeps, outstanding synths or great drums mixing succesffully IDM with post-Dilla hip-hop beats. Such tunes like Haunted Landscapes, Secondary Fauna or Pocket Calculators, though of course reminding of the pioneering work of Flying Lotus, have this 'contemporary vibe' which I am into so much in music recently.

11. Honorable mentions. I can highly recommend any of the following releases:

Magnetic Man – Magnetic Man
Teielte – Homeworkz,
Lazer Sword - Lazer Sword LP,
Finest Ego – Russian Beat Maker Compilation,
Montgomery Clunk – Superbus EP,
Rusti – Sunburst EP,
Rudi Zygadlo – Great Western Laymen,
TAZ - Gold Tooth Grin
SRC - Gold Coinz
Redinho - Bare Blips
Actress – Splazsh,
Starkey - Ear Drums and Black Holes,
Alex B - Moments,
Guttstar – Battery Hues EP,
Sedge Warbler – Welcome to the Universe,
Ben Samples – Choose your own adventure,
Bil Bless – the life mechanisms vol. 2,
Dusk Ensemble – Dusk Ensemble,
Mount Kimbie - Crooks & Lovers,
Illum Sphere - Titan EP

Slugabed - Mix for Surefire Blog

Yeah! New mixtape from the bad boy from Brighton is always like some extra Christmas present you haven't expected.  Tropical, swinging, laidback with twisted as hell mutant beatz. Sluga and his MPD is priceless, indeed :)

DR.KRANK'S RATING: 9/10

DKY001minimix by Donky Pitch

New Brighton-based label Donky Pitch has hit the market with the avalanche of sick synthetizers and twisted basslines in their firest release - Donky Stomp EP featuring one of my favorite producers and the real master of sonic disaster - Slugabed (Ninja Tune / Planet Mu) accompanied by his homie Ghost Mutt.
Donky Stomp original by Slugabed is definitely one of the best tunes I've heard this year and just proves an immense talent of this Brighton boy, even though paradoxically this track is quite 'restraint' for him :). But he allows this beautiful, spacey and melodic composition to really 'play out', while of course building his 8-bit synth solos on a solid, heavy and glitchy sub-bass. Exactly the way I like it! A Spanish producer- Mweslee refixed Donky Stomp into more wonky and purple affair with the great use of vocal sample.

Ghost Mutt in his two tracks goes full force into neon dubstep territories, where heavy synths play the main role among 8-bit, Nintendo bleeps and pieces and heavy basslines. Platinum Skull is super solid, reminding me a bit of Starkey's work, but it is Thoroughbred that goes totally overboard with absolutely killing, colourful neon, post R'n'B extravaganza which should become a real hit on the dancefloors and in the mixes across the globe. All in all - a Vinyl / digital release YOU MUST NOT MISS! You better memorize the name of Donky Pitch - more great things to come from their camp for sure.

Grab it on Boomkat and at other Internet stores.

KOSMOS 2010 VOL.31 by KosmoS

New super label has been born. Donky Pitch is the name and Donky Stomp is the first release, featuring one of my top-3 producers atm - i.e. Slugabed and Ghost Mutt. Killing release to say the least. Check this minimix.

DKY001minimix by Donky Pitch

Mweslee, a producer from Spain, who played alongside Slugabed, Ghost Mutt, Alexander Nut at the Donky Pitch  label release party last Saturday,  has released an interesting Donky Pitch Mix via Rhythm Incursions, a fine tool for serious office head-nodding fitness. Classic, funky and proper mutant beatz / hip-hop without all these shitty artificial and horrible top-40 losers. TIP!

MWESLEE - DONKY PITCH MIX

Talking about Rhythm Incursions, here is another super dope and heavy guest mix for RI from the Tokyo-based Raid System aka RIRS, i.e. Broken Haze and XLII. Oh boy, these guys know how to kick ass dropping banger after banger featuring several of my favorite artists, like e.g. Slugabed, Mochipet, edIT, Machinedrum, FlyLo, Rustie, +verb or Diplo. Jump, jump madaf***s!

PS: Bart B's - Brap made me leave my workplace (which is a near-crime in my corposlavery) cause there was no way I could sit on my ass listening to this!

(Cont.) Monsters that escaped me: Slugabed & Fulgeance mixes for Donky Pitch

I don't know how come I missed these two absolutely gorgeous, crazy and supa nitid works of mutant future beatz !?!? If not for a friend who directed me towards  Donky Pitch soundcloud (gracias amigo!), I wouldn't catch these beasts alive.

Slugabed in his exclusive mix (sadly no tracklist) presents only his own beats and though I've heard most of them I could never get tired of super heavy and delicious sonic treat by IMHO the best producer currently working on the electronic music scene. Slugabed is the best I f...k the rest, he he.

Slugabed - Put A Donky On It Mix by Donky Pitch

Another super gifted beatmaker, Fulgeance, did equally fantastic mix for Donky Pitch, leaning more on the experimental beatz side than Sluga (e.g. Shlohmo, DZA, Ad Bourke, Mux Mool) but spicying this up with some electro frenzy flavor like in Lando Kal's anthem - Fuzzy Ankles. Download, don't sleep on this mix!

OSCILLATIONS PT. 2 - (Slugabed, Alex B, Kidkanevil, Ghost and more)

The second part of a widely acclaimed compilation: Oscillations has arrived. Jus Like Music & Apple Juice Break present another set of 20 tracks of hard-to-describe music ranging from twisted hip-hop through glitch hop, wonky, electronica, dubstep to full-fledged beatz and tons of other styles in between.  As in the case of pt. 1 the opening track rocks like hell! I have nvever heard about XLII. He is a Ukrainian raised in UK and now living in Japan. His Roll Upon You Like XLII  moves with such an ease between dubstep subs, neon synths and raw hip-hop beat, like  the best tracks reaching my ears recently from the West Coast of US. Great banger for my car's sound system!! I want more, sir. Two heavy-weight champions of glitchy beats follow. Slugabed and Alex B need no introduction I hope :) Easily, two of the top-10 producers in my personal ranking at the moment. And you can grab their 320' tracks for free, praised be Jus Like Music crew.

However, the highlight of pt. 2 has been begotten in CIA by the London-based producer  Ghost (I highly recommend you grab a nice package of outstanding remixes from his website, incl. Foreign Beggars, Dabrye, Bonobo, Coldcut) who takes the listener for a voyage through dark sonic landscapes applying wide instrumentation and pulsing bass along the way. TIP! All in all this compilation is even better and more concise than Pt. 1. Other tunes I liked include: Kidkanevil, Suzi Analog, Constrobuz, Greymatter and Beatcasso. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

STARKEY - STARS (SLUGABED DID A REMIX) + STARKEY NME RADAR MIX

Oh boy, what a great way to start this snowy and cold Friday. Two of my favorite producers at the moment, i.e. Starkey and Slugabed will ease my corpo drudgery with absolutely fantastic music.

In a matter of days, the Starkey's new EP - Stars will drop on Planet Mu. The EP featuring a mesmerizing vocal of Anneka, includes the remixes by heavy-weight music champions like Slugabed, Raffertie or Ital Tek. On this occasion Starkey not only did a mix for NME but also released one remix for free download. And the remix by SLUGABED it is !!!! Yippie. It's a work of ART. Words are superflous, let the music speak:

But the main treat of the sonic orgy comes with the Starkey's NME RADAR MIX. Without a doubt this is the best mix I had a chance to hear this year. It is worth downloading just for EPROM's Humanoid VIP alone, ha ha. But seriously, the tracklist is just dripping street bass heaviness all over my ears, including presentation of the Starkey's music from the Stars EP and forth-coming full-length.  E.g. Capsule  has a f...g fantastic bassline and great synth while Spacecraft is simply an all-encompasing heavy bass orgy!  A few dubs from his extensive music buddies are as usual top-notch, like DNAEBeats and NastyNasty collab of lovely title Aqua Bubble Hash. This mix is tight as hell and I not only recommend it, I DEMAND you listened to it! Such a good start to this day, I wish Fact Magazine released already the next instalment in the FACT Mix series - this time by none other than electro future blap crunky warriors of Lazer Sword!!

Tracklist:
01 - Starkey ft. Cerebral Vortex & Buddy Leezle "Club Games" (planet mu)
02 - Starkey "OK Luv" (planet mu)
03 - Starkey "Millennia" (planet mu)
04 - Tayo meets Acid Rockers ft. Pupajim "Vampayaa (Starkey remix)" (cool & deadly)
05 - Swindle "Airmiles" (planet mu)
06 - Grems ft. Foreign Beggars "Brokabilly" (dub)

Slugabed - Ultra Heat Treated EP - A MUST 10/10 !!!!

Slugabed is a visciously clever musician, mixing in a big digital cauldron all those post-post-dilla chopped-up twisted beats with absolutely beautiful and unique synths, occasional cheap tune extravaganza. bleeping 8-bit loops and drilling, heavy bass, giving me creeps of extasy when listening. His music is simply tight as hell and his multi-layer compositions sound very monolithic despite the variety of components used. He stormed the scene with a set of absolutely top-notch remixes like Slugabed Sez or NastyNasty's - The Reef or BD 1982's Space Boots to mention my favorite ones.

But it is the debut EP on the mighty Planet Mu - Ultra Heat Treated EP that catapulted Slugabed to another level reserved for the toughest players, as correctly observed by Boomkat, and as correctly anticipated on this very blog at the end of the last year by your humble, humble narrator :)   I expected a lot of Slugabed, yet with this release he managed to surpass all of them.

In the opening Ultra Heat Treated, Slugabed takes the listener for a slow journey through heavily synth-driven sonic landscapes, riding on a broken hip-hop beat and encountaring a fair share of bleeps and beeps along the way. Skyfire is a mind-boggling, overwhelming outburst of totally far-out 8-bit synths - a real, unique banger - I taste blood on a dancefloor with this one! Enter neon wonky with Pressure - and again the Slugabed's work on buttons is formidable! Quantum Leap is my personal highlight, the cream of the cream, showing an unrestrainted music imagination and fabulous selection of cheap tune melodies all mixed to create a very powerful and beautiful composition. Goulash is a clash of dark, dubstep aesthetics with twisted synths as if exported from a score to some future sci-fi thriller. The dynamics of this track are extremely unnverving, with the beat cut up and sequenced in the most unexpected way. This tune is definitely not of this Earth or dimension. I know it sounds pretty bombastic and lame, but just listen for yourself and let's compare our impressions :)  The fantastic release is crowned with a more laidback (for Slugabed) sound of Titans nicely rolling through the speakers. All in all Ultra Heat Treated EP is the best release this year so far and the maximum score 10/10 in my personal ranking!

It's a MUST for any fan of modern IDM/EDM/wonky/dubstep/beatz.

SWEDE:ART - ANALOGUE FREQUENCIES - ERROR BROADCAST PODCAST

The beginning of February seems to be flourishing with fantastic, future beatz and interesting mixes promising a great year for fans of this genre. One name seems to reappear time and again. Error Broadcast is a "21st century beat label blending hip-hop with off-kiler electronica". Exactly! I first heard about them when reviewing a Comfort Fit's Pollyshufflez remix EP. But just know after checking their website I realized how many young cool cats are associated with Error Broadcast: Shlohmo, Dimlite, Pixelord, fLako, 1000names, Hermutt Lobby, Mux Mool, Swede:art, The Great Mundane, Lambent just to mention a few I heard about. Check their site for fresh releases and some free goodies (e.g. Pixelord covered by me yesterday).

Error Brodcast has just released an absolutely smashing mix by the Swede:art, one of the best beatmarkers, producers and DJ's hailing from Germany. His selection is always top notch and really gives you an insight into future, twisted hip hop beatz, wonky, future garage stuff and much more. Analogue Frequencies' tracklist is absolutely stellar: NastyNasty, Slugabed, Dorian Koncept, Untold,  Mono/Poly, Dimlite, Martyn, Mark Prichard, Om Unit and much much more. Unique Listening Experience!

I encourage you to listen to this mix on mixcloud, but if you really realy want this work saved on your hard drives Error Broadcast posted a download link on their site:

STARKEY - 1xtra Mix and gig at Fabric

Starkey, the Street Bass Don from Philly will heat up the mighty sound system of Fabric's Room 1 Friday, 15th of January (did I mention before that a working Warsaw - London teleporter would be a good idea? Send your prototypes to Dok Krank). You lucky Londoners!

As a warm up to his show listen to the most recent mix he did for BBC's 1xtra. Quality as usual, tons of originals and unreleased stuff and remixes from the man (Fidelio is sick sick sick !!!) plus glitchy dubs by my favorite young blood, i.e. NastyNasty and Slugabed, totally infectious Kaiser's Lost in an analouge dream or very fresh Bok Bok's remix of Night Slug's recent release of Mosca's Square One. (Check this shit out - future garage of top quality with remixes by L-vis 1990, Roska, Julio Bashmore, Greena (grab this one for fre via The Fader). All in all Starkey you know and luv! OK?

Nasty Nasty - The Reef (incl. Slugabed remix)

Oh boy, this release will be huge. Jasper Reeder aka NastyNasty will soon release a single The Reef on Frite Nite, as a first step to his full-length Kingdom Come. This neon wonky banger is extremely hard to classify, but one thing is certain - it's dirty and big and has a huge effect on the listener (I hope). The package will also include smashing street bass remix by a young UK bad bowy - Slugabed.Cant wait to see this released. Listen!!

MARY ANNE HOBBS - BBC 1 EXPERIMENTAL - 11/05/09 CONNOISSEURS LABEL SHOWCASE

Mary Anne Hobbs – Experimental 2009 11 05 Soul Motive, Modern Love and Numbers [Hotfile]

Connoisseurs Label Showcase presenting three labels: Soul Motive from Bristol, Modern Love from Manchester and finally Numbers from Glasgow. The best Mary Anne Hobbs show in months. You know YOU WANT THIS BADLY!!!!!

Soul Motive is represented by very emotive and dreamy, exclusive mix from Eleven Tigers. Fantastic listening experience within Bristol’s dub-tech / IDM imaginarium, including Eleven Tigers original material as well as Perverelist and Hyetal tunes. I’m not a big fan of dub-tech myself but this piece of music is really, really ‘touching’. As sung by a female in one of the tracks by Eleven Tigers this mix is Driving my crazy driving my crazy… Eleven Tigers will release his new single in January 2010 with Perverelist remix on a flipside. Already in December, Soul Motive plans the new releases by Headhunter and Geom. Watch out!

Then comes another nice mix, this time from Manchester’s label – Modern Love, which was heavily rinsed by M.A.H. in her show in the past. Including only unreleased material by among others Claro Intelecto, Andy Stott, Andrea, Milli, Hate. This mix is also quite OK, although for me the weakest one out of the three presented.

As in a proper thriller, the real bomb awaits the listener at the end. The third mix has really blew my mind. This is the showcase mix for a new Glasgow label – Numbers which was created after converging Wireleblock, Stuffrecords and Dress 2 Seat. The mix includes tons of exclusive release for next year by e.g. Low Limit, Lando Kal, Rustie, Slugabed, Redinho, Ghosts on tape, Hudson Mohawke, Emvee, L-vis 1990, Taz Buckfaster, Deadboy. Fuck me! So many great artists on the fore-front of electronic music gathered in one place! If this is not the best label of 2010, I’ll be damned. Actually the first release in 2010 – Golden Shake EP will be by none other than our old homies: Low Limit and Lando Kal from Lazer Sword!!! followed by Redinho’s “Bare blip” and Taz Buckfuster’s stuff. Oh boy I can hardly wait. I am absolutely positive this will blow my mind. Numbers’ label launch party took place on 6 November 2009, with Lazer Sword live, and world debut of the new Rustie live show– this was the great party I’m sure. Just a few days before we had a chance to meet and see the Lazer Sword slaying the crowd here in Poland and adding Rustie to the bill is really too much, he he. I keep my fingers crossed for Numbers.
